Yes because the TV rights deal doesn't have any stipulations that the NRL only gets paid providing they are delivering their product.
They could just shut down for weeks and channel 9 and foxsports would keep paying them :sarcasm:
Obviously the NRL wouldn't get paid if the failure to deliver the product was their fault. But if it was for example a player strike responsding to a decision the NRL is entitled to make, that would not be enough to stop the money.
The only way a player strike would work is if it was done before a new deal was signed. And even then the NRL would have a lot more time to fight than the players would.
You'd be surprised by how many players would be struggling within a week or two of the money stopping.
