Why is everybody surprised? The NRL has been penalising accidental high shots excessively for the past 2 seasons.

If someone falls into a tackle, you as the tackler are responsible. Those are the rules.

"Given the damage to Tuimavave's nose, there's no doubt that's a fair call"

Hayne could be a bit more professional in talking to the ref. Sounds like the biggest whinger there.
Tomkins looking like the Warriors' only hope.

What are you people on about? If that's not an 8 point try what's the point of the rule. As blatant as it gets. A high tackle is a high tackle. And he wasn't "falling" into it, is he not allowed to go down to try and score the bloody try?

Have to admit, that's pretty damn rough.

A player is going DOWN to score a try. What's a tackler supposed to do?

Well, not hit him in the head. It's a penalty anywhere else on the field although 8 points is a bit harsh. But they do it for knees, so why not high tackles

I was about to post that I'd be happy if we're down no more than 10 points after that start. They scored before I could hit submit.

14-12 at half time. Lucky not to be down by 20.

And obviously it wasn't intentional. But the rule has never been only intentional high tackles get penalised. That's the difference between careless and reckless.
