Penrith have beaten 1 team of note this year.. the Bulldogs in Round 3

they've had an easy draw, beaten the Titans twice, the Knights twice & the Raiders twice (all 3 of those teams are tipped to feature in the bottom 4), their other 2 wins were against the Bulldogs and the Eels without their superstar Hayne

We might be halfway through the season but it's hardly time to start mouthing off if you're a Riff supporter

Ah well, Perth hoodoo stays put. If we must play in Perth, then I'd much prefer day games (not just for the players but for myself, considering this finished around 2am NZT!!!).

Such a shame that we just fell to pieces for about 20 minutes in that second half, Luke, Sutton & Walker cut us to shreds for a while there, no excuses. Turning point was definitely the poor followup to the 40/20, should have scored or at least trapped the ball in goal instead of coughing up an error (which soon after led to the first of the Rabbitohs comeback tries).

At least we get to rest our weary heads with a bye next week, also we still have positive points differential, thanks Konrad for playing right to the end!

Damn, just looked at the ladder, if we had won that game (by any margin) we'd be in 8th spot right now, classic Warriors messing with my emotions!!!

Cracker of a game what i expected. So stoked with the win, especially with the injury toll.

At one point Apisai Koroisau was the only healthy player on the bench, with Inglis and Goodwin off for the rest of their games and George Burgess and Clark spending a bit of time with concussion problems.

McQueen at right wing and Kyle Turner at right centre with Dylan Walker playing his first game at fullback.

Gutsy win by the boys, shame for the Warriors that they dropped off in the end but that's the breaks. Not sure if it was the time zones that did it but the wheels just fell off.

Walker surely needs to be up for Origin contention after that, what a freak. Shame about GI but looking at the run we have in the next few weeks, it'd be more of a hinderance to QLD than Souths.

Great game and great finish. Well done Warriors for putting up a fight and credit is due to them, definitely a team on the rise.

Key difference was fitness. Having Sam, George and now Tom running at you all night takes its toll. If Souths hold onto the ball, they generally win

Here's my two cents...seems to be a healthy level of arrogance coming out of this thread from Souths fans with respect to winning the comp this year.

The Warriors came out firing but it is the back end of the game that they fell apart and this is where the likes of Manly and the Chooks will not come finals time.

Dylan Walker...bloody great little player and I would chuck him into SOO. Him with Hayne would cut Queensland apart IMO.

The pace of the game last night was brilliant...both sides had a crack and the intensity was great. A few clubs including Storm should take note that this is the way to play the ruck.

Who said anything about winning the comp?

Agreed that those teams don't throw it away. Not sure what happened there with the Warriors. For 10-15 minutes it was the best any team looks. But its an 80 minute game... the frustration is under Cappy they have been playing out 80 minutes with generally the same concentration and intensity across those 80 minutes. Last night was not one of those occasions.

The tries to Tyrell (2), Reddy and Turner in particular were soft as. The one to Walker in the first half was Jayson Bukuya having a horrific read in defence. He was also responsible along with Lillyman for the first Tyrell howler. Ikahihifo has barely missed anything this year but missed Tyrell cold at the end as well. Particularly Bull and Ikahihifo, they haven't missed all year. So it was so uncharacteristic, hard to fathom really.

Tomkins needs to start owning that zone around the posts on cross field bombs. Two weeks in a row he hasn't competed and the opposition has scored. Not good enough.

IMO, the Warriors bombed that game big time.

No, I think the key difference was attitude. Fitness has not been a problem at the Warriors since Cappy has had control. They weren't 'tired' drop balls or missed tackles, they were simple mistakes that this outfit hasn't made for a long time. It was very soft, particularly in the middle where the Warriors have been controlling the ruck well recently.

Does anyone also know why Jarred Maxmong penalised the Warriors after Johnson belted Sam Burgess? He seemed to indicate a shoulder charge. It was nothing of the sort. I was also miffed at the penalty on Hurrell for "rubbish", when Souffs dropped a number of elbows in the ruck nothing happened in response.

Cappy is McFadden, I suppose? You can't do much to change a teams fitness and conditioning mid-season, they are playing well and look more committed but the level of fitness a team has is set up in the off season

To me it looked like Warriors were stuck in mud late in the game. Group tackles stopped, they were failing to cover eachother and get numbers in against the Burgess brothers and most of those tries came because Warriors were standing still and out on their feet. When they hit in defence they were no longer sticking to tackles. The commentators pointed out around the 60th minute how the Warriors were breathing heavy and had hands on hips. And then it all unravelled.

I think both teams were generally stuffed, but with the amount of ball the Rabbits were able to control at the back end of the half there was only going to be one outcome. Brutal game right from the start.

Warriors squandered far too many attacking opportunities with either forced play or simple errors. At least half a dozen off the top of my head. This inability to create pressure (something Souths did well) definitely made it easier for Souths to mentally stay in the grind. We made things difficult for ourselves with the ball in hand rather than our defense/fitness letting us down.

Once the Rabbits took the lead the mental side of the game caught up with the physical side. The short kick off pretty much summed it up. When a team starts looking for a shortcut to get back in the game you know mentally they've checked out.

In typical Warriors fashion it's been a roller coaster so far, but despite the loss it does feel like there's far more positives than negatives in the direction we're heading so I'm not too down about it.

Yeah Cappy is McFadden. I think though a large part of the likes of the Burgii rolling through was because the Warriors kept turning the ball over in very basic situations. This is going to sound odd, but they were making un-Warriors like errors. What we need to know is if the previous 5-6 weeks under Cappy was the aberration, or whether this is a return to norm.

I think if anything the first half took as much out of the Warriors as the second half, because they kept turning the ball over there as well. I get the feeling also the Warriors thought it was going to be easier without McInglis at the back. I also thought the Warriors use of their rotation was baffling. Havili and Mateo hardly played.

If your a Souths fan you can't help but admire their performance, losing Inglis, players shifting to different positions, yet still coming from behind and winning, going a way at the end. The Warriors lost their way in that 2nd half somewhat but some credit must go to the Souths defence and effort against them. Too many times we are critical of our own side, yet not give credit to the opposition for their effort.

Referreing decisions are always baffling, I didn't understand the penalty after the Johnson tackle on Burgess, though only watched it once.

Dylan Walker was just dynamic. Such talent for a 19yr old. Reluctant to sprout his prospects for SOO but you can't deny the immense improvement in this player over a short period of time.

The game carried on from the theme of the SOO, very physical.

Warriors let in some soft tries at the end but it was amusing to see Tyrell, firstly get his first try of the season and then a double. Stats, I think, show he's now scored 4 tries in his career now!

Gotta love big Manu, one of my favourite players, as is Mannering - a quality player.

The Burgess boys continue to impress. Sam is up there with the best forwards in the game at the moment. People bag Reynolds big time in threads and around the traps, but he is a tough bugger and rarely misses tackles, although he did for one of the Warriors tries. Needs to be more diligent on the last tackle plays, love the grubbers and kicks closer to the lines. Repeat sets/possession is the name of the game. The sides who control the ball usually come out on top. South's defence is wearing down most sides but they will have to improve in consistency, errors if they are to trouble the better sides.

Inglis' injury is now not as bad as they thought which is good news for Qld. Souths have two byes in the next 6 weeks so hopefully he will get some rest.

Not getting carried away with Souths' progress but we are building towards the back end of the season.
