Thing is, I think at the Warriors, Cleary had more game-breakers to call on to provide an injection of something different. It's not really the case here. We don't even want to start Segeyaro.
100% correct.
The fact is that if it weren't for two last minute victories against the Storm (08) and Tigers (11) off the back of individual moments of brilliance Cleary would have the same amount of playoff wins as Elliott.
Now I think Cleary is a far superior coach to Elliott, but some late season surges and the Warriors horrible succession plan has made Cleary look a little better than his record suggests.
However, those game-breakers all came from the Warriors lower grades which Cleary had a big hand in establishing and developing. From what I've seen he and Gould have done a similar thing with you guys.
Cleary will keep the team competing and you'll be close in most matches. It's just a case of how long it takes those game-breakers to develop through the ranks and start making those clutch plays that Cleary coached sides need sometimes to get them over the line.
I still don't think it was the wrong decision to let Cleary leave the Warriors, but rather some poor management in his succession that has caused the Warriors issues. However, outside of my own team I would like to see Cleary win one because he's been close as a player and coach with us and if anyone deserves the ultimate success he'd be near the top of my list.
