I watched the English u20's grand final a few months back and said then that the Wigan team were better than a few SL clubs. This is showing it to be true IMO.

Warriors fan, how far away is Vete from getting a shot?

Had some very promising touches tonight.

Well not sure at all about how strong that Wigan side was (they looked good, but the player I know most about is probably Pettybourne), but that NZ Warriors team was extremely weak. I would hope that not too many of the players in that second half are a shot at first grade this year.

Warriors back line depth looks pathetic, no speed, no anything really....SJ, Tomkins, Locke and Hurrell, then not much else speed and skill wise.

This was the Wigan team today.

Bowen (Aus) - 31
Charnley (Eng) - 22
Goulding (Eng) - 25
Sarginson (Eng) - 20
Burgess (Eng) - 19
Powell (Eng) - 21
Smith (Eng) - 26
Taylor (Eng) - 22
McIlorum (Eng) - 26
Dudson (Wal) - 23
Hughes (Eng) - 22
Farrell (Eng) - 23
Clubb (Eng) - 26

Gelling (NZ) - 23
Flower (Wal) - 26
Pettybourne (NZ) - 25
Tomkins (Eng) - 21
Hampshire (Eng) - 19
Williams (Eng) - 19
Manfredi (Eng) - 20

This was the Grand Final Winning team from 3 months ago was:

1. Sam Tomkins - Now at the New Zealand Warriors
2. Josh Charnley
3. Darrell Goulding
17. Ian Thornley - In the squad but DNP Today
5. Pat Richards - Now at Wests
6. Blake Green - In the squad but DNP today
7. Matty Smith
20. Gil Dudson
9. Michael McIllorum
10. Lee Mossop - Now at Parra
11. Harrison Hansen - Now at Salford
12. Liam Farrell
13. Sean O'Loughlin (c) - In squad but DNP today

4. Jack Hughes
15. Ben Flower
21. Scott Taylor
26. Dom Crosby

So 7 players were either rested or have left from the team that won the SL a few months back. They have a talented set of kids at Wigan but the team looks nowhere near as strong or experienced as the team that took the title last year.

Also, the average age of the Wigan side that ran out of the sheds in the second half was only 21.6!

Does anyone know what the age of the Warriors kids in the second half?

Plus Greg Burke played mate, i think he is still only 20.

Had some very promising touches tonight.

I'd expect him to spend most of the year in NSW Cup depending on injuries.

Matulino looked menacing in the second row though, so if that is a permanent plan as opposed to the usual trial musical chairs then it *could* open up a front row spot.

Having said that, I'd expect Sione Lousi to be given first crack ahead of Vete.

He's a very promising player.

Vatuvei, Fish, Laumape, Neilsen

Isn't the best back line in the comp, especially considering the defensive frailties, but to say their depth is pathetic is a bit of a stretch.

So if Vatuvei, Fish, Laumape, and Neilson are our depth players, who will be in your starting lineup?...the backs in that trail game were pathetic, slow, pedestrian and lacking urgency and skill.

Neilson is a depth player at best, but he has to start to babysit the big dummy.
