If JT, Inglis, Smith and Slater all become Immortals - as the media like to push as they tend to start sentences discussing them with "future Immortal" - then Lockyer, Fitter, Daley, Clyde, Lazarus, Langer, Sterling, Kenny and Meninga should become Immortals too.

All those players listed are absolute legends of the game - easily on a par with the current four QLD greats.

I don't think anyone would disagree with that.

For some reason people seem to think Cowboys fans think that he is more deserving.

The thing is Thurston could do it and be the key figure in the Cowboys winning a premiership. Then he deserves to be in contention as an "Immortal".

It just peeves me how the media want to lump a player in that category or as one of "the greatest ever" when their career is not over. For example, Adam Reynolds, he is a very good goal kicker, but in what his 3rd season to hear the buffoons on Channel 9 call him "the greatest goal kicker of all time" is just plain embarrassing if not stupid. Again, by the end of his acreer he could be, but after 3 seasons he is the best? :crazy:

lol, it was Captain Apollo who brought Johns up. Ya'll seem a little salty. JT is quite a good player. Oftentimes anyway. Pretty lame benchmark for an immortal, though. He'll be worth the $$$ if he delivers a premiership.

Thurtson MIA in round 1 and possibly round 2 after his trip?

I believe it's a 1 week suspension even with an early guilty plea?

Nah, just caught him off balance. He shouldn't of moved that quick to begin with

Not unless he has any carry over points. Following is the base demerit points penalty if found guilty of tripping:

Grade 1 - 75 points;
Grade 2: 175 points;
Grade 3: 275 points;
Grade 4: 375 points; and
Grade 5: 475 points.

Based on how the NRL have treated Thurston for past on field indiscretions (e.g. Swearing at referees), I'll be amazed if they even charge him.

Your confusing him with your hero Johnsy, JT more or less implied the ref was a cheat IIRC ;-)
