Quite stunning that only 4 tries were scored considering how open the game was for the majority.

From a Warriors perspective any win early in the season is gold, and it was built off the back of defense rather than attack.

Just on this, if Melbourne hadn't have cheated the cap a halves pairing of Mortimer and Robson and Matt Keating at hooker would've won the comp.

Would've been a glorious day for Rugby League.
Not necessarily. If they didn't cheat the cap they may still have won, or the team that made it instead of them could have won it.

The top 8 might have been different, a team who missed out by 1 winor certain f/a might have scraped in and changed the whole finals series.

As a neutral i really enjoyed that game it was great entertainment. Thought Tomkins played well and i think the Raiders played well with the exception of their terrible 5 minutes after half time. I think they might be better off giving Hodgson 80 minutes though McCrone isn't first grade standard. Both sides hit hard in defence and attacked well i enjoyed it.

I think he's more Josh Reynolds without the grubbiness. Both can play in the halves but they are better when they stick to running the ball first and foremost rather than being a playmaker. I have no ill will for Blake Austin, he was great running the ball last year but that's what he does and that's what he does well.

I don't mind that though because he is splitting sides open. What we just need is for the finesse players to come in and finish it up which will *crosses fingers* come with time. I don't expect Austin to be a dominant half. Just a big strong runner will do the job. He is an upgrade on Campese and McCrone.

Plus he also tries his balls out every play. That is the type of attitude the Raiders need around the joint after a few shirking malingerers have been marched out over the last 5 or so years.

Ive got no qualms about Austin's work so far, when he starts gelling with the other spine players, he'll be setting up a few tries
He's a gun AFAIC

I agree. Blake Austin can work in Canberra when Cornish gets more used to the NRL and learns how to take control. It's a shame that right now no one was backing up Austin when he was making breaks. Hopefully for your sake that chemistry will develop quickly there. Wighton off Austin can be a dangerous running duo.

good win warriors but need to get a lot better if they are going to compete with the better sides. should be a lot better with hurrel & laumape back & hopefully the halves will start improving.

when are they back? especially hurrel?

Austin is a good player, but he has an ordinary kicking game and he rarely sets up his centres, that is why the Tigers let him go,he wants to play 6,good luck to the kid he tries his guts out every week.

It would be handy if there was a former top class half on the Raider's staff who could perhaps help Austin develop the finer points of playmaking.
