Great game, a few thoughts:



Maloney is a much more creative player than Pearce.

Bit of an outrageous statement based on one game.

Based on today you'd take Reynolds and Keary over Pearce and Maloney. The former (although Reynolds was off for about a quarter of the match) were quite persistent and both ended up setting up a couple tries in the end, whereas the latter just bombed and hoped for the best. Didn't really see anything else in their skillsets tbh.

yeah they only have 2 premierships (1999 and 2012). 2007 and 2009 don't count because they cheated the cap

i hate to say it but manly have been the best club in the last decade because they are the only club that has won 2 premierships in the last 10 years. that might change this year though!

Great to see today's game go a few minutes past 6pm. Was waiting to see whether or not Ch9 were either going to cut the telecast or transfer it to GEM, and go straight to Nine News.

Ch9 have obviously timed the kickoff time and half-time break duration so that full-time occurs as close to 6pm as possible, so they can retain viewership by going straight to the news bulletin.

As to the game itself, Roosters had their chances but could not put Souths away. In the end Souths were too good when it mattered.
