That is fantastic.

This is exactly what true development is about.

In the 2000 WC there was lucky to be 1 or 2 Welsh born players, however with an emphasis on development over the last 15 or so years 70% of the squad is now born in Wales. Good to see Elliott Kear as captain, another long term league boy from Wales.

Also missing another Welshmen, Wigan prop, Ben Flower.

True...with Flower they could have had 19 Welsh born players....fantastic by this nation on minimal resources.
Plus it’s only going to get better as wales schoolboys beat England schoolboys in wales last year and following that win something like 12-13 players were signed up by English super league sides to play in their academy sides.

Exactly, the seeds are starting to sprout. They may not beat Australia at senior level, but as long as they challenge teams like Fiji, PNG, NZ, France etc that is great for the game.

More development officers and money and they will reap the rewards.

There needs to be a welsh u16’s and u19’s academy side competing against the likes of Leeds, wigan, Warrington and hull etc.
