Is he trying to placate clubs who don’t want such a fast expansion ? Is he trying to get more money out of bids ?

His approach is a bit puzzling when this could be handled behind closed doors

I'd say the clubs may have arked up. There was mention of concerns from clubs regarding dilution of the talent pool in the NZ Herald article.

I hope so as well. But to have bids from a rugby league heartland area like Brisbane and an expansion country like NZ fall substantially short is not a good look for the game. Were these bids trying to get in on the cheap or do the numbers simply don't stack up when you have to pay a mooted $20m licence fee.

We don’t need to react as if the sky is falling every time some news break that wasn’t predicted.

You should know by now Vlandys doesnt do anything behind closed doors, everything is played out for his mates in the media.
I mean he announced this sht on grand final day in interviews before even talking to the bids! Professional the guy is not.

Yep, I walked/jogged home to Croydon Park one night from an Amco Cup game at Leichhardt. I was pretty close to Pratten Park. (I was younger then though lol)

Except the WA bid that was linked with both govt who would have funded infrastructure and an existing club to provide pathways and an existing fan base that PVL appears to be pushing hard for re-admittance. However, the missing $20m was obviously a sticking point.

Ipswich was also linked with local govt too, on the promise that they get a licence, same as WA govt with the WA consortium, but guess what, no one got the licence, no licence, no govt funding, so maybe the lesson to learn is get the FUƘn Licence before counting govt funded chicken before they hatch, OR make sure the govt money is bankrolling you already, not this on the promise BS
