Except the WA bid that was linked with both govt who would have funded infrastructure and an existing club to provide pathways and an existing fan base that PVL appears to be pushing hard for re-admittance. However, the missing $20m was obviously a sticking point.

Linked but every time Cummins spoke he spoke of private investment and the latest in June when he didn't have but hoped to have $30m from private investers.

Say one of them gets cold feet or pulls out, Then a bid that scraped the money together is struggling further

WA Govt with a more hands on role likely gets it done. The fact the NRL is still keen is a good thing

Some don't, otherwise Bukowski wouldn't have said "wests at Leichhardt" instead of tigers at campbelltown
No, I know the history of my own club.
The supposed problem was the name 'Easts' representing the Western corridor. I was merely pointing out a club named Wests representing the balmain area exists.
There's no issue.

They are litterally next door, campbelltown is not

There are issues and geographical name isn’t one of them.

Wa govt does not want to have a hands on role and will Not directly fund a professional sports club operational costs.

cumins stated they had $30mill in the bank with $26mill committed to starting the club up from today (they were in Sydney talking to prospective staff!) being ready for 2027 with $4mill unallocated left in the budget.

if nrl is going to tip in the same to set it up properly and is willing to run it and take the risks then so be it, but they clearly aren’t or else they’d already have announced that by now.

The thing I don`t get is if the NRL are running at about a $50m + profit every year surely then investing some of that, maybe even just a fraction, into a new franchise would be a worthy prospect.
Potentially they could do the same with any new franchise in a critical expansion area, i.e. NZ2 that is unable to raise sufficient funds.

While that sounds good, an issue would be if the team is unsuccessful and no one is willing to take on the NRL's share or % of the funding. Does the team just collapse or does the NRL keep putting money into a black hole much like the AFL with the Giants and Suns. Not a good look if the NRL pulls out because the venture was unsuccessful l. If it goes well then great, but is the NRL willing to take the risk which would need all clubs to be on board.

OK lol
Easts.... in the West
Tigers... already exist
The whole name is an issue, none of it can be used.
All that can be sorted. Hence changing name to Brisbane Tigers. Hence bidding as Firehawks. Unsure what your point is here.

Companies changing brand names isn’t something new.

The bigger issue is a traditional Queensland Cup side going into the territory of another traditional Queensland Cup side and all the commercial implications.

Can confirm QRL is very anti this. Whether that’s due to purist view or not, who know.

Ipswich have put in the work into the WC. They service a massive catchment which goes right up to Toowoomba boundary.

As I’ve said here multiple times, it makes more sense for Brisbane Tigers to set up in Logan due to all the pathway set ups and investment that they have already put in place via school programs and via junior clubs.

I don’t say that lightly either as I’m very pro Souths Logan Magpies in general but they haven’t been able to service all of Logan adequately hence Tigers having junior clubs and school programs in Logan, hence Wynnum also having junior clubs in Logan. Plus Maggie’s will never bid for an NRL licence.

Keep WC as part of Ipswich Jets in whatever form that may be.

I mentioned some months back that south magpies should be the brand for the east tigers to take on as the NRL club, sort of a reverse wests tigers

Whether the jets can mount a bid which is as strong as the tigers is an issue

Brisbane is only getting one more nrl team, it will either be jets or tigers to service the western coridoor

I'd say it depends on what you consider failure to be.

If it increases playing numbers, but the club itself is losing cash, is that a failure?

I'd say no. If the club offers anything of remote substance to the sport, the commission is bound to accept that risk.

They did it for the Knights, Titans, etc etc

You just said it's not an issue.
Why change it then?
I get that you can get around the ISSUE but it is an ISSUE.
If it's not the EASTS TIGERS then it's a completely different thing..
Neither is it EAST or TIGERS...
It's now just dudes with cash.

Becoming a completely different entity called a different name, playing in a different league, in a different location... kinda the definition of a f**king issue.
