Can anyone tell me the first names of these players from the 1990 Grand Final team?

D Greene, P Smith, P Clarke, B Walker, J Vitanza

J Vitanza is 'Joe', isn't it?

Thanks for the help!

David Greene, Barry Walker, Paul Clarke and Joe Vitanza - I can't recall a P Smith sorry.

Cheers,
Tom.

Pul Smith was a very good finisher for you guys. Scored a try in that GF to get you back into it.

And you call yourselves fans!:p

Gubba Walker looks like he'd be ready to strap on the boots again, except he's working for the Corrective Services, and Joe Vitanza looks ready except he's running a security company.

We could deal with more players like this in the current team. None of these guys were brilliant but they were all honest and played to their abilities

Thanks for the help! Does anyone recall who else started on the bench for the GF with Joe Vitanza and Steve Carter?

With the exception of David Greene the others were all local juniors.

Barry Walker was a terrific second rower whose career probably didnt reach the heights it could have due to injury issues. Unlike some of our current high profile international forwards he did not have hands like feet? We also shared the same orthopedic surgeon.

Barry Walker would certain make my top 13 of the most underrated Panthers of all time.

Brain Batese? I think he lost the ball on a regulation hit up that led to Meninga scooting away. Canberra scored the decisive try off the next play.

Didn't Izzard start off the bench in the 91 GF?

That's true and so did John Cartwright. Col Bentley was starting centre and Barry Walker started in the second row with MG.

By the way a replay of the 1990 Grand Final is on Fox Sports 3 at the moment. Our last game in the brown and white. We lost by 4 points to a great Canberra team of course but watching it back I realise how a good a side that was even before we won it in '91.

Back in the early 90's teams for Grand Finals used to name about 9 or 10 men benches. Unless there reserves were in the Grand Final.
So i imagine for Penrith. We would of had the likes of Graeme Bradley, Greg Barwick, Ben Alexander etc. You will only find out if you can find a Big League 1990 Grand Final addition.

Also it was Joe Vitanza who dropped the ball for Canberra to score

Yes, managed to catch it half way through!

The only bench players that I noticed come on were Vitanza and Clarke. I saw four for Canberra but only the two for Penrith. Maybe they only used the two. :?
