yeah the thing is they did go our way so if we had won we would of been in the finals and since we had the 2nd best defense record in the comp than we could of got close too the finals

this time though we dont need results to go our way we just have too win whether its by 1 - 2 or even 6 points i dont care we just gotta win :?

final score was 34 to 10 think by memory glenn morrison scored a couple of tries.

went to that game at marathon, cause we played our previous game at leichhardt oval and won, and needed to win that game to qualify

i know we've been hard done by this year with controversy following most of our non-blowout losses. but it seems like the tigers are trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in the last couple weeks.

I am pretty sure the Magpies were in a similar positon in 1997. All they had to do was beat the bottom placed Sth Qld crushers and they would have qualified for the semis..The Crushers won, and the Gold Coast ended up jagging the final spot for the finals.

Hope this weekend is not a case of dejavu

true wounded, the Tigers and maggies both ended up on 20 points, 2 points clear of the finals.

How about the year before when the Tigers needed to beat the Roosters and were relying on wests to lose to Illawara? I think Wests won 12-8 in absolutely atrocious conditions. Although the Tigers game became meaningless they were playing so well and would have won if they had anything to play for. Roosters scored 3 tries in abt ten mins at the end to win.
Those parra stadium days seem a distant memory now!
Did anyone go out to the Wests-Cronulla semi? I was really going for Wests- always had a soft spot for them and of course hated the Sharks

After beating Illawarra I think we still had to rely on the Sharks beating the Knights that night. (only time I've ever cheered for the scummies!). You're right about the conditions. Big southerly came up and there was a kick off that just went the 10 and then got blown back 20!

The first 60 mins of the Final against the Sharks was awesome. Can't remember the rest. :(

Good luck guys

I'm in two minds here.
I want the Knights to win, but in saying that I'd much rather the Tigers make the finals than the Raiders or Sharks.

May the better team win.

I remember that.

The Steelers had just flogged the Gold Coast and were expecting to meet the Maggies in the finals the following week. Then as it turns out the Crushers beat you, which meant the GC would be our opponents... then what happens.... we let the bloody GC beat us a week after we'd drubbed them. That's the ultimate insult!

The game was at Parra Stadium and of course the place was near empty (with only a few bus loads of Steelers fans). I reckon the Gold Coast felt right at home with the empty seats and dead atmosphere... that season was heartbreaking!

Good luck in '05 ;-)
