My daughter asked me score tonight I said Panthers up by over 30 against Manly, she said who I said Sea Eagles she is 17 and follows it, but goes by there logo name, she knows it's Cronulla, but I would have to remind her it's really Cronulla Sutherland Sharks.

We see Dolphins are just called that, just wondering if anyone else has noticed if the younger generation just use Sharks as there team or whoever else they follow and drop the 1st name

My grandkids refer to the good guys as the Sharks. And I understand from a merchandising point of view just Sharks has a wider selling impact than Cronulla Sutherland Sharks for the youngsters Tradition for the Z generation
is not such a big deal.
That's why the NRL wanted the Dolphins to have a wider reach as a new outfit.

Its irrelevant these days. All the Roosters fans are from south west Sydney for example. People follow winners.

yeah ... Probably irrelevant to the young uns . But I still find it sad. Rugby league is a tribal game . Or should be . Keep the sharks Tribal, You can expand the tribe ....But its STILL tribal ! Lose that... Lose the essence of Fans of Rugby league. Winners are those that stick to their loyal partners .

Well all I know is that when I was a whipper snapper I went to watch the Sharks. Not Cronulla. Except probably 1967 when we were Captain Cook's ship

I usually refer to most teams by their mascot, except for ‘Souths’ and ‘Manly’. Don’t know why.

And I usually refer to us as ‘My beloved Sharks’
