It's assumed be continuing its line. Not going straight.

Pedantic but the number of people I've seen who think "straight" means straight down the wicket is slightly disturbing

Fair enough, what you said there about continuing its line always made more sense to me but I’ve seen so many swinging yorkers hit batsman on the full but clearly missing then be giving out and nobody bat an eyelid I’d always assumed that was the rule, learn something everyday
