Hughes and Finch. This has the potential to be a long term opening partnership. Left/right combo. Finch coming from his T20 background, Hughes from his first class background, they both bring different strengths to the table. They can be good together.

Two things I've noticed about Hughes today: he has brought a decent pull shot into his arsenal and he is already using his feet against Ashwin. Did almost none of that in the tests in India and England. Genuinely different look to him.

Hughes with a life. You create your own luck when you go hard instead of being tentative.

They've got through the tough period without losing any wickets and scoring quite quickly. Fielders pushed back now, we can accumulate at 5 an over and launch with 15 overs to go and plenty of wickets in hand.

If we don't lose our heads 300 is doable.

These games by themselves are pretty irrelevant but selectors are on record saying they count ODI form when deciding on test teams.

Warner can't buy a run in the bloody Ryobi cup, if Hughes does well in this series it could get him an Ashes test. Even if nothing else this series matters for its influence on Ashes selection.

And Finch brings up his 50 in 54 balls

It's not junior cricket anymore - 47 is a failure getting out the way he did. Also, Twatson and Finch getting out to Yuvraj is criminal - the guy is a dead set pie thrower....
