NZ are a very good team but if we make it to the final and lose to them it would mean we lost to them twice in the same WC which would be like the All Blacks losing twice to the Wallabies in the same WC,a decent Aussie cricket team would never lose twice to the Kiwi's in a WC just like a decent All Blacks wouldn't lose twice to the Wallabies in a WC.

This is the worst Aus team ever if that happens(worst Aus team ever if they don't even get past India)

f**k, you just get stupider - not a single sane thought there

When Vettori and Bond were at their peak their batting was tits. This is a much better balanced side. Bats down to 8/9 (well as good as an 8 and 9 can be), good up front with new ball, rate Henry and Milne (both not at their peak obviously).

And a very strong, together unit. Big fan of them. Think their test team is far and away the best it has been in years also

How do you know? They were well placed but it was hardly guarenteed. A few wickets start to fall and 350 doesn't happen.

And as mentioned 298 in 43 is a bloody big chase

I don't know if steyn is a great ODI bowler though. He can turn it on but he's not up with the best one day bowlers. Fantastic bowler in test cricket though

Anyway that was an awesome game of cricket. Best I've seen in a while. Listened to everything pre rain break, then had uni, got out of class in time for the last 7 or 8 overs, was tense as anything but very happy with the result. Morkel bowled very well for the Saffa's but the batting effort was outstanding

Steyn is overrated in ODI,has no idea how to bowl a yorker,Brett Lee could bowl 6 yorkers an over in ODI's and rattle pricks stumps all over the place.

Think that's a bit ridiculous tbh - both teams made mistakes in the field, and with the bat... high pressure game

While the rain hurt them a bit, at the end of the day it was a huge chase - 300 off 43 overs takes a lot of getting

At the end of the day, we get within 6 of a win, and it' over  How funny is it that the two 'steady' characters and least explosive bats have put the ball out of the ground to win games... And Dan, that "cut", so Vettori  Anderson also, great character, and Taylor was looking much better too

lol it was one of the biggest chokes ever,AB and De Kock missing easy runs outs, moron players running into each other and dropping catches,Dale Steyn bowling pies to the weakest hitters(Elliot,Vettori) in world cricket

Everyone felt sorry for the Proteas after the game which is why they refrained from calling it a choke but it was one of the biggest chokes ever

All of the half-cast kiwi's are about to come out of the woodwork. And boy aren't there a few of them.

They're happy to be considered as Aussies for 99% of their life but are probably the only group on Earth that will actually change their racial affiliation/background for the sake of a sporting bandwagon.

Some deadset embarrasing reading in this thread, especially earlier on when there was so much of the game still to play.

Just glad the Kiwi blokes on the field don't have the same peahearted attitude the minute the going gets a little bit tough.

lol - so having an opinion that the chances aren't real good is peahearted? What a tosser attitude, frankly.

I kind of want to play India. If we beat them we can say we've beaten 7 our of the other 9 test playing nations at this world cup (8 this summer cos we roasted Pakistan 2-0 just before the WC began). The only team we wouldn't have played would be Zim.

But to play Aus in the final and win would be pretty neat.

If we win NZ Cricket should invite Zimbabwe over for a short series and pay for their flights just so we can complete the set. Would be pretty awesome to beat every test nation within a calendar year and in an unbeaten sequence.

The problem is that you mix up a lot of sensible comments with this kind of left field garbage.

How the f* is this anywhere near the worst Aussie team ever?
Did two years ago never happen?

This Australian team is very strong and I can't pick a winner of the semi-final or the grand final in either scenario.

He was average in ODI before this WC started, that's a fact, has improved nicely this campaign, shut up and god bless.

 Actually there were a lot of people going on about how Boult shouldn't be in the ODI team and instead (gasp) McClenaghan should be based on his amazing stats.

The fact is that Boult never had much of a career before this WC to prove himself, but he's absolute world class and honestly could become third only to Hadlee and Bond in the long run.

Lol thank god McClenaghan isn't in the side. Never seen someone other than Corey Anderson get so many wickets off bowling pies.

Let me break it down for you my Kiwi friend

Thought process 1 NZ might actually win the WC

Thought process 2 Shit are serious NZ? lets pretend this is the worst Aussie team ever just in case it happens to spite NZ of a worthy win and act as if there win was nothing.

Thought process 3 Fail to acknowledge NZ victory as pretend worst Aussie team are fake scrubs

Thought Process 4 Winner winner chicken dinner smug Aussie is victorious
