I'd be batting first. History, particular in Australian conditions, shows that you have faith in your top order and bat first. If they're good enough they survive the early onslaught and go on with it. Nassar Hussain fell for the trap of putting a side in on the opening day of a series once and Australia put 600 on them and the series was over after one game.

Saying that, I think if England win the toss they will bat, if Australia do we will bowl. Clarke is aware of the weakness of the top order even if he backs them publicly.
