Good to see Williamson getting some respect on here, on the pitch and on the ground. He really is a fine player playing alongside a bit of a rabble, really. His innings added respectability to a deplorable batting effort- particularly from Taylor and McCullum. It won't be enough, unless the weather packs in…but at least it gave me a session of entertainment, as opposed to misery.

He's just so calm, has so much time-like all the good ones tend to do. May end up the first NZ batsman to average 50+

Never said was as good! Was just saying that when Starc has a spell like that it reminds me of watching Akram run in and just destroy batsman with left arm very quick swing bowling used to always scare me thinking wickets were going to tumble when Akram came on

Warner change his backlift? more of an english style hang it up there vs the aussie style trigger movement.

Taylor is back to being a bloody frustrating watch. His 2013 series v Windies was superb, but he's been lean ever since. He's the guy that should be doing the things that Williamson is doing. A constant disappointment.

Yeah, great temperament and incredible placement- the way he finds those gaps in the field with low risk shots is uncanny.

he never looked like making a run, very tentative

Warner just never really seems to be out form. Even when he goes through a "lean" patch he still looks to be batting well.

Pretty sure Donnelly averaged over 50 just we couldn't play many tests

Glad Aussies have now seen Williamson is the real deal. Boult is too, he's clearly not right though remember he came home from England with a back issue and is well down on pace he's usually high 130s early 140s

We're in a huge hole and Williamson aside the top 7 have to do better than that insipid effort especial the very senior guys at 4 and 5

I know they don't have Southee this innings but the Kiwi bowlers are simply pedestrian. If the conditions aren't there to suit them they simply don't have the ability to dry up the runs or create something out of nothing. They need another Bond (without the injury problems) desperately

Bunniesman chimed in here the other day to tell us the Gabba pitch was a disgrace but has since disappeared

Effectively we don't have Boult either, which is a big issue

I really like Burns' pull shot, he gets very tall and hits down on the ball.

Boult seems to be struggling now, down to about 130ks.
