Smith I assume is done for this tour. Means Konstas back in at the top.

If Smith is fit? I'd drop Khawaja. Labs looks capable as an opener and Uzzie is just too old now. Though it's quite risky. If Labs/Special K fail then we have to go back to Usman? Not really ideal. So selectors probably stay with Usman for now. But I reckon he is the one under the most pressure.

Smith has to be the 3. Green at 4 is even a tad high but someone has to play there. Head is better suited a bit lower against the tiring bowlers. Webster maybe 4 instead.

Forgotten man is Inglis. Green/Webster have been too good to leave out. If Inglis can't bat top 3 I'm not sure he can get into the team.

Bowling I can't see any changes. It's a good attack and Boland is great depth.

Terrible starting time, at midnight - Thursday week

For the first two tests, yes, playing time of midnight-7:30am (AEST) ain't ideal for viewing.

However, important to note the 3rd test in Jamaica is scheduled as a pink ball day/night test, where day's play will finish around midday (AEST)

Charlie Anderson in for Hazelwood.

A. Parthenis in for Uzzi.

Get the Konstas/Parthenis opening partnership back together.

just get Khawaja out of that side - McSweeney, Inglis, Green, Webster & Konstas should all be getting games in Windies -

what are we going to learn from with Khawaja & Marnus (he only plays if Smith isnt fit) performing well against the Windies - sick of these top order guys getting carried by either Smith, Head or the tail wagging

Excellent point, its not like Khawaja is 27 and just needs some confidence and worth holding onto for the future

If the consensus is there is runs in the WI, surely we start preparing for the ashes now? not a week before ashes opener.

Khawaja is turning 39 mid ashes.

Oozie's feet seem to be getting heavier, he plays mostly everything from the crease now, not a great deal of footwork

hopefully we get McSweeney and big Sam into the team in the Windies, Ingliss has always batted well too when he's been given a go

Smith being injured could be a blessing in disguise. Gets one more bat into the side. I would look to get Konstas and McSweeney in the side. Probably keep Marnus or Uzzy leave it up to the coach/selectors which one. Probably lean towards Khawaja staying as he had a good Sri Lanka tour. Marnus has a way back into the side of he finds form in Shield, Uzzy being dropped is career over.

I’d also give Haze the tour off and look to blood in a quick.

Konstas
Khawaja
McSweeney
Green
Head
Webster
Carey
Starc
Cummings
Lyon
O’Neill

How on earth was JL ever an international coach?

Marnus is a 50 Test player because his first 20 or so he averaged 60 and was kissed on the dick by the god of dropped catches.

He's f**ken HAD his grace period for that and still can't score a run

Off topic but at least the little garden gnome is throwing his support behind the Perth Bears

That doesn’t make sense

Other than rank turners in Asia , where we basically drop a batsman for a spinner . Where else have we changed the squad based on conditions??

Plus he says the West Indies tour will have little bearing on the ashes squad, really ?? So Marnus and Khawaja can fail miserably but a lock for ashes??

May as well pick Aust A for the 3 tests
