Doug Bollinger, the left-arm fast bowler, has been called into Australia's squad for the first Test against West Indies at the Gabba. Bollinger, who impressed on the one-day tour of India, will join the first-choice trio of Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus in the 12-man squad, which also includes the offspinner Nathan Hauritz.
Despite the loss of the Ashes at
The Oval, there is only new face from the men employed in England, with Bollinger coming in for Clark. There was no place for Phillip Hughes despite a strong push in New South Wales, with Shane Watson holding his spot at the top of the order with Simon Katich. Marcus North and Michael Hussey kept their positions.
Bollinger, 28, played his first Test at the SCG in January, taking
two wickets, and toured South Africa before missing the Ashes when Brett Lee returned from ankle surgery. Lee's elbow problem opened a spot in the squad and Bollinger was called up following his impressive displays in the one-day day squad.
He earned nine wickets in four games in the series win over India, including
5 for 35 in Guwahati. Clark played the final two Tests in England but the selectors are looking to younger men as they chase options for next year's Ashes series.
