as much as I love cricket, I actually hate the Australian cricket team - so even though this is a pretty sh*tty turn of events I can still enjoy the cricket:D
I don't hate the Australian team, i just am pissed of at some the bullsh*t that has gone of late.

it is absolutely ridiculous, my little brother caould do a better job and he can barely read

I have never supported Australia in the cricket, but I only started hating the team when Ponting became captain. He is a great batsman but an absolutely terrible captain, especially off the field, but on it too and I think this has really been exposed by the loss of Warne, Gilly and McGrath

I love Shane Warne, I think he is one of the best cricket heads around and Australia would benifit from putting him as coach and chairman of selectors. He knows what he is doing and reads the game superbly. I would put a lot of Australia's dominance in the last two decades down to him

A dead dog would do a better job than Hilditch, Throw in Fat Merv,A drunkard like Boonie and a Nuffy like Cox and you too can help ruin Australian cricket.

Agree with the sentiments directed at the national selectors. They come off as a useless bunch of ex-crickete...Anyway I do wonder how much say Ponting has in team selection, I wouldn't mind betting it's more than he would publicly admit. I mean look at the treatment of some players compared with others; Hussey and Johnson with Hughes for example. Is it bad I want the Windies to win the upcomming series? Ofcourse I'd only want them to win if it meant some changes to our team and perhaps more importantly to our selection panel.

How CA can't afford 4 full-time national selectors I'll never know. Without having facts and figures at hand, everytime I've read a financial report detailing CA's profit margins it's always been positive reading.

Problem is we could lose both the test series vs the Windies and the Pakis and still
nothing would be done. The Ashes loss proved that.

I don't see why they can't be forthcoming about Ponting's involvement in the selection process. If NEw Zealand can name their coach and captain as selectors, why can't Australia be more open about it?

Chris Gayle has gone home due to his mother's illness, the Windies are hopeful he will be back in time for 1st test but it seems unlikely.

<H1>3 mobile Test Team Announced
19 November, 2009

Cricket Australia&#8217;s National Selection Panel (NSP) has today announced a 12-man squad for the first 3 mobile Test against West Indies starting at the Gabba in Brisbane on 26 November.
The squad is:
Ricky Ponting (c), TAS, 34
Michael Clarke (vc), NSW, 28
Doug Bollinger, NSW, 28
Brad Haddin, NSW, 32
Nathan Hauritz, NSW, 28
Ben Hilfenhaus, TAS, 26
Mike Hussey, WA, 34
Mitchell Johnson, WA, 28
Simon Katich, NSW, 34
Marcus North, NSW, 30
Peter Siddle, VIC, 24
Shane Watson, NSW, 28
Commenting on the squad, NSP Chairman Andrew Hilditch said: &#8220;The squad includes only one change from the side which played the last test of the Ashes series in England. Doug Bollinger comes in for Stuart Clark. Stuart is extremely unlucky to miss selection but we have been very impressed with Doug&#8217;s form in the recent ODI series in India and feel he deserves this opportunity in the Australian squad.
&#8220;Losing the Ashes was obviously extremely disappointing but the nucleus of the side performed very well individually. We&#8217;re confident this young side will continue to develop as we move into this exciting Test series at home but also continue to prepare for an Ashes series, which is now only 12 months away.&#8221;

so its Doug the rug in for Lee

Cricinfo seems to suggest he is coming in for Clark
Bollinger pops into first Test squad

November 19, 2009

Doug Bollinger, the left-arm fast bowler, has been called into Australia's squad for the first Test against West Indies at the Gabba. Bollinger, who impressed on the one-day tour of India, will join the first-choice trio of Mitchell Johnson, Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus in the 12-man squad, which also includes the offspinner Nathan Hauritz.
Despite the loss of the Ashes at The Oval, there is only new face from the men employed in England, with Bollinger coming in for Clark. There was no place for Phillip Hughes despite a strong push in New South Wales, with Shane Watson holding his spot at the top of the order with Simon Katich. Marcus North and Michael Hussey kept their positions.
Bollinger, 28, played his first Test at the SCG in January, taking two wickets, and toured South Africa before missing the Ashes when Brett Lee returned from ankle surgery. Lee's elbow problem opened a spot in the squad and Bollinger was called up following his impressive displays in the one-day day squad.
He earned nine wickets in four games in the series win over India, including 5 for 35 in Guwahati. Clark played the final two Tests in England but the selectors are looking to younger men as they chase options for next year's Ashes series.
Australia squad Simon Katich, Shane Watson, Ricky Ponting (capt), Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, Marcus North, Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, Nathan Hauritz, Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus, Doug Bollinger.

I also read that Lee was asked not to play in the Shield game because he was pencilled in

Wonder what will happen now in the shield game, surely Doug the rug will be asked to get his arse up to Brisbane and join the squad, which means if he is on rep duties he can be replaced midway though the game, Hazlewood being his most likely replacement

if they play Hauri at the Gabba they should be shot, without Gayle the game may only go 3 or 4 days so I'd go all out medium pace attack on the Gabba greentop

With the announcement of the team I have decided to cheer for the West Indies this summer. I know they have no hope, but we need a major defeat against a crap team before there are any major changes to the team.

The fact that Watson has been chosen as an opener is an absolute disgrace especially after Hilditch mentioned they were picking a team for the future. That was total bullsh*t. They dropped Hughes because of perceived 'deficiences' yet Watson revealed more glaring deficiencies in his time as an opener.

DOWN WITH THE SELECTORS!
