This also goes back to what several people on this forum said when he was called up to replace Harris in the Ashes squad - he was simply not ready for long form cricket. He'd played nothing but T20 and 50 over cricket for over two years. There was even some concern from the NSW coaching staff when he was included in the ODI squad because they hadn't been giving him any long spells.
Jackson Bird and James Faulkner were both in England playing county cricket (and it was before Faulkner got suspended). To be the #5 pace bowler when he hadn't had any time in the middle playing first class cricket was mad when they could have called up one of those guys.
You seriously have to wonder about his action too. He absolutely hammers it in during his run up and he virtually lands on the side of his foot in the release. Would he be as effective with a remodelled action that puts less stress on his body?
Which is why Andrew Fekete is such an inspired selection. He's durable, he certainly won't bend his back so no chance of injury there.
