Question for our NZ posters. Alot of the NZ top order seem to have very low 1st class averages, mid 30's. Generally in Australia batsman won't get a look in at test level unless their averaging atleast mid 40's. Is there a particular reason why batsman average so low in NZ? Is it the conditions?

both him and North have shown me today why Australia are the best in the business.... North & Clarke were under a sh*t load of pressure coming into this... both really stood up and proved there worth when it really counted.

thats what Aussies seem to do... every time one of there batsman are under pressure they seem to really knuckle down and do well. i remember the likes of Matthew Hayden, Damien Martyn, Steve Waugh etc... just stepping up when it mattered.

all due respect to the kiwi bowlers but North has hardly made a run in first class cricket in the last month in Australia and yet he bats OK against you guys

he'll live off that innings for the next few test matches now, much like Hussey is living on past innings
