You sound confident that this deck is not going to deteriorate as much as some of us think it will.
No, I'm sure it will deteriorate spectacularly. It's why I'm curious to see how we go in one of these tests batting first.
I don't think the pitch has been doctored though, I think it's just the nature of the pitch.

Was the 1984 side Australia's worst ever? Some are saying this side is our weakest . The Poms said the 1989 side was our weakest yet we walloped them in that series.

Our current batting line-up is one of the worst I've seen, 84 team was up against the West Indies at the peak of their powers.

Ok I will accept that.

Our skippers seem to have trouble calling correctly at the toss. That is so vital in the final washup

selector Jamie cox was interviewed at the JLT final

Said there were 2-3 blokes lucky to be picked for Australia
said all people wanted to talk about was who was unlucky not to be picked, then said he thought none of those made a case to be picked

blow me over with a feather

Cox is a selector? I thought he was working in fumbleball these days

Is this meant as a joke. Just about every sub continental national does. led by the BCCI.. crickets greatest pitch doctors. Yes the host team takes a gamble that they will win the toss and bat in the best conditions but they know that soon the inevitable spin friendly dust bowl will surface. and any disadvantage they may have had batting second will turn to an advantage as they have the superior spinners for the conditions.

Yes the pitch was spin friendly but I don't think it was an absolute minefield on Day 3, Australia played poorly.

Would Pakistan have lost 10/60 odd batting second? I'd bet against it.
