If I was in the sporting trenches with Australia on the horizon, I'd want Kevin Pietersen AKA England's best batsman in the last 50 years on my side.

I wouldn't cast him aside because we simply aren't mates. I also wouldn't continually pick well past their best players like Broad and Bell just because they're staunch "boy's club" members.

But hey, that's because I want to WIN. That would be my top priority. Sadly, winning isn't Cook & Strauss' number one priority.

Oh yay I can't wait for the Boxing Day and New Years Tests :sarcasm:

Australia should be playing a 5 test series against NZ and the hapless Windies should be dropped down to a tier-2 test nation.

Another reason my love for Test cricket is dwindling is the ridiculous scheduling. The Kiwis are easily one of the top 3 test nations right now, and they also play entertaining cricket.

And what's their reward and ours as viewers? 2 test series every now and then. It's a joke. f**k the ICC and money grabbing CA, ECB, BCCI... all are almost as bad as FIFA.

Rant over.
Rough schedules have been done well in advance, really, whilst NZ have only come good in the last 15 months (even if there were some good signs before that).

Two test series are lame, though.

But we leave out Ryder coz he's a c**k too, yet you want to be an Honorary Kiwi?

Interesting test - comprehensive, but of course the Windies only have fleeting sessions of competitiveness these days.

Aussie batting looks reasonably fragile outside of Australia, but jeepers the pack of quicks could be anything - add Harris, Cummins, Pattinson when injury free and it's a serious demanding pack of fast bowlers - not quite the Windies of 70s-80s, but quality and depth

Lol excuses excuses, lucky you don't follow a club like Parra Tommy.
I've followed Sheffield Wednesday all my life.

If you knew anything about football you'd realise that that makes being a Parra fan seem like being a Broncos or Manly fan.

What a boring one sided test. If the Ashes are going to be like this I will tune out half way through the series.

I agreed with you 100% until about 3 days ago when I found out that NZC are trying to turn a 3 test home series against Australia in to a 2 test series with 3 ODI's...

We can't f**king complain when the merkins running our game are f**king playing a part in it...

The WI are a basket case.

NZ can't really complain if they (basically) get 6 tests back to back against Australia with 3 away and 3 at home. That's as fair as it gets really..

2 test series are a massive joke though. Whats the point

That'd be great until he started sending messages to the opposition telling them where the weak spot in your armor is.

Mitchell Starc will probably hold the world record one day for most bowled dismissals, every wicket he gets in all forms of the game is smashing the stumps out of the ground

Yeah. Travelling around the other side of the world just to play a 2-test series and nothing more is a complete waste of time, irrespective of whether it is preparation for the Ashes or not

Sadly the Windies will never again be the dominant force they were from the late 70's to the mid 90's.

Back in the 80's they left bowlers out who would be superstars today, they have only been at their best when they have had strong and respected leaders that have lead them. Worrell, Lloyd and Viv. After Viv retired it was really only the great Ambrose, Walsh and Lara that kept them competitive until the late 90's. Once the two great quicks gave it away they have been on the whole pretty terrible since. It's sad to see the new generation carry on with the same cocky swagger and arrogance but none of the results.

Maybe the current crop of Windies players need to "feel the passion! Come on Mahn!"
