How is the question of the NRL using two refs, while other competitions don't, any different to SL using in-goal judges on non televised matches when other competitions don't? In the latter case the officiating methods aren't even consistent within the same competition, let alone with the rest of the Rugby League world. We generally accept that inconsistency without comment because it a rational position to take for a top tier professional league that can't interest television in covering all its matches. Meanwhile the vast majority of the RL world, virtually every league outside the top tier, relies on one referee and two touch judges. No video, no in-goal judges, and no second refs. It really doesn't make sense to me how some people seek to single out the NRL on this issue when it isn't even the worst offender in terms of inconsistent officiating methods.
