I'd like to see De Grandhomme get more of a go in ODIs. He had a decent innings v Seth Efrika and their lollies.

Listening to Radio Sport, they think he will play ahead of Neesham due to his bowling. I see that as being similar to Mennie playing due to his batting. He's a bits and pieces medium pace trundler at best.
Yeah if NZ cricket has given the world anything it's a long list of bits and pieces cricketers. Players not good enough to make a team either for their batting, or with their military medium lollipops.

I mean I still pine for the days of Chris Harris. He'd be the president of this club. What a f**king legend he was!

Didn't The Grand start out as a wicketkeeper or am I thinking of someone else with a similar name?

Chris Harris, lol, you forgot to mention his fielding which was pretty damn good to be fair.

Think he started as an all-rounder, then solely a bat, now back to all-rounder

Bowls seam up, on this sort of wicket he's a good bowler I guess - he can do a job, and unlike Anderson and Neesham doesn't seem likely to break down... don't rate him as a bat, but who knows

Pakistan getting a lot of movement

Ordinary from Williamson, time for someone else to man up or Pakistan will get a lead!!

Raval ain't the best, but against quality bowlers in awkward conditions he's already shown more than Guptill ever has

I think he looks quite ok....? He's got the two most important traits for an opener, he's happy to defend and see off the bowling and he's got a very good leave.

Well I like what he's trying to do, nothing wrong with old school openers

Agreed.

Also, time for Nicholls to show us something. Would be a big step forward if he was still there at stumps.

Don't want to put the mockers on Raval (as we did in reverse with de Grandhomme) but these debutants are really showing the established players how to play.

With Raval, he judges the ball around off stump very well and gets the bowlers to bowl into him. Good start on debut.

About time we got Raval in the mix, I'm all for consistent selections but the perseverance with Guptill was ridiculous.

de Grandhomme won't get bowling conditions like that often, but good on him.

Starting to get over Southee who just hasn't found top gear since that World Cup performance against England, starting to wonder if he even has one. I'd be tempted to throw the new ball at Matt Henry.

Hard to complain about our bowlers today. 2 for 20 off 19 overs. Southee went fine

More in general over the past couple of years, he's not the spearhead we're imagining him to be.

Personally I want to see a Henry - Boult - Wagner combination tried out.
But whatever happens it's just a matter of time before Wagner gets chopped again.

Where have you guys been hiding Raval??? Especially considering a plodder like Derptill was keeping him out. Grandomme also did well in favourable conditions. At least the new blood is well for you guys unlike it has for us.
