CDG looking good with the bat. Yes, he's aggressive but I actually think for the most part he's playing genuine cricket strokes with just good intent and timing. Not bad given the wicket is still offering plenty.

And then I put the mockers on him lol

De Grandpiano gets the BCs into the lead but if that's how he's going to play than he probably needs to bat at 8 or 9 or he wont last long at test level.

He's not a good enough bowler to bat lower. He needs to play as a batting all rounder or not at all. I thought given conditions he played pretty well.

Yeah but still better than Sodhi whose first class average is about 50

100th test wicket for Neil Wagner. Great effort from him given how often he's been the unfortunate twelfth man particularly to a plodder like Doug Bracewell

That was a great ball

Given our lineup I don't want to chase many

Wonder if Davey dumb dumb is watching Azhar

As for Azhar Ali, sure, he's working hard, but to be simply oblivious to turning the strike over has allowed New Zealand to bowl as they please. Now he's gone, all in all his lack of positivity has taken them nowhere.

Sure, but like Raval I think digging in is the right approach on these decks. Doing a Davey and flailing away from ball one is pointless, he's was trying to set up his middle order but got too bogged down

I have no problem digging in. But what was it, 31 off 178 odd?? There's no need for it. You almost have to be not trying to not tick the strike over at the very least. He allowed them to settle on a length without any risk. 60 off 178, fair play, 31 is so defensive it created a lot of problems

There's a balance between Warner's shit at Hobart and 31 off 178 balls. Neither are ideal (though obviously Warner is a lot better than his shot at Hobart, and Ali's innings is useful in a situation saving a match).
