With hindsight, that's the greatest travesty in recent times...

Although I reckon Sandow and Idris will be all but forgotten in 5 years too.

Smith did get to play every game, whilst Inglis was a back up player, but yes, in hindsight it looks like a dud call.

Not really...Smith was simply outstanding in 2005. What has happened since has no bearing. Clearly he's incredibly long odds to be as good as Inglis in 5 years, but he was a hell of a lot better in 2005

Based on their careers now Billy Slater by a mile and then Benji. That's just from those listed. A few of the other names mentioned are miles ahead of the rest aswell.

Firman got that many votes? One of the worst of the decade fo sho.

Witty would've won it if the awards hadn't been cancelled!

Plus I always thought Luke Douglas was robbed in 06, even though Hayne has since become the best player in the cosmos.

I'd go for Firman for sure, although if Benji Marshall had played more games, who knows. I don't really rate Billy Slater, he's got abit of pace and abit of footwork but there have been plenty of players like that who have come to nothing, eg Brad Watts. In 5 years time Firman will be recognised as a better player than Slater without doubt.

Hahahaha.

hindsight is funny, and what is also interesting is that a poll is still open from 2003, when i was in year 10

Always thought Matt Head was a wonderful kicker but couldn't do anything else.

Haven't heard Bulgarelis name in forever. What happened to him?
