Well DS said "word has it that Stuart Raper is not exactly the players pin up boy". That suggested that Raper was having problems with the players

Well done. THat's very good work to pick that up.

It wouldn't matter who was in line to replace Anderson, rumours would start about them not getting on with the players.

I'll put this very simply for you.

I was more commenting on Weidler and Pierce than the rumour itself.

I don't necessarily believe it, and personally I hope it isn't true, but it fits with what Frenzy told us of Raper's relationship with the Wigan players.

And I would have thought you would be the last person to comment on validity of rumours given how quickly you accept anything negative about Anderson as gospel no matter what the source is.

Still it is nice to see you expanding your horizons and getting on a non anderson topic.

I think if Ando goes, a GREAT many supporters will go with him. Not because they support him specifically, but because it will be a decision indicative of the rot inside the club.

Yeah right, I would be hard pressed to find 3. But if thats the way you feel, by all means.
But after you two or three have left, I expect a rush on ticket sales on the 12th dec, that may or may not coincide with news from the bunker after late November.
Timing.

I know 8 personally. But then I don't know what all this amazing news is that everyone keeps referring to...

Time will tell I guess.

Nothing - I repeat nothing - would surprise me in regards to anything that might turn sour with Raper involved.

If he gets the gig it could easily be out of the fire and into the frying pan for the Sharks.

Raper is as close to an Ando clone personality wise as a non relative could get.

That's not a rumour either, that's first hand from when Stuart started coaching back in his De La days.

The Sharks have let the best Raper fly the coop because of this whole taudry saga.

Sharks are number one,
I want sharks in my bum,
sharks will surely dominate,
while other teams go masturbate.

I am a shark.
Regardless of coach, player, administrators - nothing will change that.
I will be cheering for the White, Blue and Black no matter who is in the jersey.

How can I help? I would buy season tickets, but there useless in QLD, would still buy them, but that just leaves empty seats.
I am prepared part with some hard earned, but I am unsure how to do it effectively. This has been puzzling me for months now.
I have jersey's, but that money is spread out between clubs anyway.

I still be cheering regardless. ;-)

Mr Angry you have touched on the point that is at the cruxof the Sharks problem.
The failure to nationalise & accept supporters that are non-shire as possible financial contributors.
Part or full privatisation of the football club is an important option in my opinion.
But back to reality, gee, it would be hard to organise some seats on Virgin, local hotel, game tickets, etc. etc.to sell to remote supporters.
Contra deals for Virgin & hotels for advertising etc.

Well, waddya know. I couldn't agree more, Blacktip. How about that.
I too feel that the reversion to `Cronulla-Sutherland' is a retrograde step. St.George have the right idea with their e.g. Queensland Supporters Club, European Supporters Club, etc. The Sharks Supporters Club and Sharks Kids Club options do go part way toward this. But I do think there could be extra benefits/packages.
I also agree that privatisation is the next step for success. At one stage it was the football club members that received favourable consideration. Now it's the club sponsors and season ticket holders. It's where the money comes from. Maybe this will give way to private franchise, with its consequent benefits. Manly are just embarking on that road.
IMO, Peter Gow took our club ahead in leaps and bounds. As far as I can see, the current committee has not improved our situation one iota.

I do have an idea for this, however I am saving it for Forum 7's. I get to be a shark. :D

I have no problem with the branding Cronulla-Sutherland. It is home. I am the one away. The idea of being a Bronco however, *shivers* ...........I'll leave it at that. I am here for my wife, I'll work around it.
Lang Park @ Origin was cool.
Keep the ideas coming.

Just browsing through the latest `Shark Attack'. In an article entitled `Sharks Dare To Dream of a 2004 Turnaround' it says - `The disappointment of 2003 for the Sharks is now history, with the future in 2004 looking bright. Let's dare to dream.' They're right. Yesterday's history, tomorrow's a mystery. Let's drop the morbidity, forget the past, and focus on the future with a positive outlook. Sounds like a good idea to me.
One paragraph I did like was Danny Nutley's comments on a couple of our young up and comers. `I've got a big wrap on Keith (Galloway), he's going to be a very good player.' Nutley said. `Then there is Russ Aitken. I've never seen a player with his ball skills before. He's got some great hands.' Exactly what I think too, Danny, on both counts.

I'm with you Popper. Just a little bit of house work first though.
Just a little bit of rust to cut out & then we're ready.

I'll be there again. Doesn't make any difference to me who the coach is or who's playing for us or who's running the show. They're still my club. I've supported them from Day 1 and intend to do so 'til the day I die. Coaches come and go, players come and go, officials come and go, those who would white ant the club come and go. But the club's still there, and while it is and I'm still kicking I'll be supporting them.
Anybody disagrees with this can get stuffed.
Well Popper it goes to show that us senior people show the young ones the way. It doesn't matter how the team performs and who coaches them as long as the true beleivers follow in droves. We are Cronulla-Sutherland supporters thru thick and thin and even if they don't win one game in 2004 I for one,and I'm sure Popper too, will line up again in 2005 to support MY team. You people who critisise the coach and some of the players should be grateful we have a team to follow and now for everyone....UP UP CRONULLA.....a much better anthem than the Wallabies "waltzing matilda"

If these are real Shark fans they'll be back supporting the club after the initial disappointment. If not, bye, bye, who needs such disloyal fans anyway?

Danny Nutely.

A fine player who came to us unknown and has been a very good buy and a player that Chris Anderson must take great credit for.

However call me old fashioned and an old so and so, but I question greatly his credentials as an experienced player to lead and nurture young players.

One young player who travelled with the team on an away trip last season was punched in the face by a heavily intoxicated Nutely, this was after the young up and comer was berated by Nutely for not being tough enough. Nutely also faught with another newish player to the club who played much of the latter part of the year in a new position and went pretty well, the player is known as a nice fellow and had a quiet word to Nutely about his treatment of the young player who he punched, and also his crass name calling and abuse of a female patron at the club. Nutely verballed the player calling him soft .

A fine player but I worry about the damage he has caused to at least one young player, who we need to have a big year, who returned to his hotel in tears after the incident and has been bullied and ridiculed by Nutely ever since in front of team mates.
