2005 Off-Contract Panthers Players

I think we shouldn't.

With all the money we have after all the players we've let go after the past two years, we should comfortably be able to re-sign the current team thats off contract, plus 1 or 2 other players that are of first grade standard. If we can't, then there are some very overpaid individuals at the club.

Shannon Donato - GO (I don't want him too tho)
Frank Puletua - GO (Not good enough for first grade)
Nathan Gilchrist - ????
Michael Burke - ????
Ryan Rolfe - GO (Not good enough for first grade)
Trent Clayton - GO ( A lot of ppl rate this guy...I don't)
David McLean - GO (Not good enough for first grade)
Jono Rolfe - (Last chance this year)
Garret Crossman - Stay
Matthew Pow - Stay
Paul Franze - Stay
Shanelle Haumono - Stay
Brett Howland - (Last chance this year)

It's scary how thin we are with backline talent.

I think that's a hard question to answer before we have seen some of the newer or younger players form for 2005.

I have to disagree with NOT re-signing David McLean. He's not a player who will make a permanent spot on 1st Grade but a player you can depend on to be a solid addition on a 1st Grade loss - if that makes sense.

No it doesn't make sense.

Do you know anything about football KP? Better get to the early games & take some glasses. Some of these kids you have written off our our furture.

2005 will be a test for the Panthers backline strength. Key departures and minimal recruitment has meant that a projected backline of Wesser, Rooney, Lewis, Franze, Clayton, Campbell, Gower will start to look very thin (a) with any long term injuries and (b) in Origin time. Penrith have good stocks of young forwards coming through the ranks as well as the plentiful amount already in a first 17. Expect the boys upstairs at the club to be drawing up backline hit lists come June 30. Clayton and Howland in the backs are playing for a contract in 05 and F Puletua and D McLean in the fowards are on the last throw of the dice with whats coming through. Donato will likely stay because of his experience within the PL team and ability to cover Priddis. Of note with the big names, T Puletua, Galuvao and Gower (on a 3/4 year) will stay but Preston will be interesting. He would be just about the lowest paid member of the regular 1st grade side and without a decent increase elsewhere would become a very attractive opportunity.

He has said he wants Penrith or G.C. if they get in....He doesn't want to play for anyone else.

Michael Gordon and Danny Galea will cover lewis and ROoney come origin time as they are working on that combination now.

Nathan Gilchrest, Trent Clayton, Brett Howland can cover fullback.

Ben Ross will pretty much be the only one to play SOO this year in the forwards....So I just bring up Frank Puletua to the bench.

Waterhouse may play...If so, Rodney to lock, Pomerey, Rogers on the Bench.

If Johns remains fit, Gower more than likely wont play.

Stinky Pete was an alter ego that loved the PK!! PK only has a small handful of fans and yeah we pretty much know who they are. ;-)

I think we are going to purchase a couple of good quality players this year.

I think we should have the money to get into the player market, if needs be.

i bet your not thinking that anymore!!!:-k
