How are you guys looking for next year?

I can't remember any prominent signings you've made and you've struggled this year, is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

We were hitting our straps right at the time when Kimmorley and Peach got injured. Had that not happened we would be just about pushing for a top four spot.
If you throw in a crap performances against Souths etc we would be killing it.

The potential is there for a very big season next year if we can get our defence in order and have our top team on the park for the majority of the year.

Our signings to date have not been of high profile players but add depth something which we have lacked a bit of this year. If we get Dykes that should do us and we will have a very strong squad next year with a good balance of experience and youth.

There is alot of light at the end of the tunnel !!!!!! :D

Be reasonable, nqboy only asked a fair question.

I think we still have a long way to go but we are light years better than the team that folded against Souths and the Cowboys way back in the early rounds. There are a few players, especially backs, who need to seriously pick up on their basic skills - just look through the threads here to see that.

The other plus is that Raper is only in his first season with us - with a full off-season and more chance to shape the team to his way of things, you'd have to expect some improvement to come.

As far as signings go, I don't think there have been that many decent players on the market that would complement our side and weren't hideously over-priced. We can't afford to go wasting money on "stars" who don't perform.

On our day we are up with the best of them. This year we have struggled for consistency, not only week to week, but putting together a consistent 80 mins. Our other major problem is obviously defence.

With our coach on deck for a full season, hopefully the emphasis will be on improving our defence and consistency.

If we can fix each of these, I think we are in for a good season.

Our entire premiership challenge, rests on Kimmorley being fit.
If BK play the majority of the year and finals, we are in with a good shot.

Yeah, we're missing a few as well, Morro, Campo, Sing, Shepard and Jamie MacDonald all out for the season so toughen up princess.

We're going okay at the moment but we struggled early on, dropping a few games we should've banked points from and we've been playing catch-up since then.

As DM noted, it was a fair question. Certainly, the BK and Peach injuries don't help. Stevo has turned back the clock but Vagana seems to have been well below his best, probably a bit to do with BK's injury.

Who do you expect to kick on and star in the next year or two? Peach seems past his best, no longer as reliable as he was in his glorious prime though still capable of occasional brilliance. BK fit will make a big difference but he can't do it by himself, so who's going to step up?

We still have room for a lot of improvement in our side and can honestly say I believe that we will have a much better performing side than we have had this year.

Youngsters to watch:

Pelo to kick on when given a chance in the next year or two.

Ciraldo will do good things when he gets an opportunity as well.

IF Galloway fires up like he did at the start of the year in the first few games he will do some damage in the next few years.

Hilder to only get better.

Surely Vagana will only get better? I honestly think that Gallen has the potential to play Origin.

2005 will be a big year IMO. Stevos and Peaches last year, Hilder, Goldy and Sullivan to have played a few first grade games with players like Pelo, Newton and Gallen will go close to origin I'll say. This year when Guss was talking about having no 5/8s Vossy said what about Gallen?(after his two tries) then Guss said "isn't he a qlder" and then was told no and his eyes went  and he wrote something down.

Maybe Gallen was supposed to be the random player picked last year over Bails but got 7 weeks for the best high tackle ever

Defense is the biggest problem. I'm confident about the teams chances next year as long as Kimmorley is fit. But even if he is the difference between being a top 4 side or a top 8 side will be the defense. I don't have a crystal ball so I have no idea what will happen, but if Raper can tighten the screws in the defensive line, watch out NRL.

I welcome the responses from the well-mannered fans but Newman and Surely are just trolling.

Newman, that's a fairly glassy house you're living in, I expect us to win a title inside 37 years. And Surely, try the Fan Arena, not too many Cowboys fans visit this site.
