Why the hell can't teams just wear their proper jumpers, and forget about all this "away" strip nonsense? What do these "alternate" strips prove?

The reason for the alt. jerseys is so when teams who have similar jerseys play each other people don't get all confused as to who is who.

Well, if everyone went back to wearing their original jumpers -- jumpers that actually looked like football jumpers -- they wouldn't have that problem. The problem only arises because most of the designs now are so generic. You can't tell one team from another. Thank God for the Roosters, Souths and St George (tonight's debacle excluded) who have at least kept jumpers that stay pretty loyal to what they've been wearing for the last 50 years.
