Going by the TV? The TV shows only parts of the ground for brief periods you toolbag.

Looks to be a disappointing crowd at Stadium Australia today. Where's mattyg to defend it?

here i am, yeah it was pretty poor, and since your asking for my defence i'll give it. It woulda helped if there were more than 40 Titans supporters there. I'd be lying if i said there were more than 100 of them at the game.

And ICE....f**k you...what was the crowd in Melbourne?? EXACTLY...we kicked your ass by 2,000 people...and you come on here having a go at me about it :sarcasm: absolute idiot.

Anyway, let me know what you think after next Friday. There'll be more than Melbourne draw in 4 weeks at the Souths v Dogs game next week.

Considering the ground holds 45,000, 12K people can look very bare. That, and the fact the majority of the crowd sit on the Western side because a) that's the side most people come in on and b) the sun can be really f^cking annoying on a Sunday arvo over on the Eastern side, and you rarely see the Western side because that's the side the wide shot camera angles come from.

BTW, I thought there were some guidelines about making unfounded allegations about such things as fudging crowd figures, or does that only apply to every team except the Roosters?

Sigh... "Going by the tv..."? Now, there's a scientific method.

Are you the same idiot who tried to tell people that they don't have inflatable hands or piped music at Sydney FC matches? Kind of makes your next statement...

So you didn't take that into account when framing your guess?

Is that 4 weeks or 4 home games? If Melbourne continue to average 12K+ at home games, I'll back youse out.

Actually, I was pretty impressed last night with a) the number of Cowboys fans in Woollongong and b) the number of bunny lovers in the shire.

i said 4 weeks didn't i? ;-)

and i did take the fact that there wouldn't be many Titans fans into consideration. I tipped the crowd originally to be 16,000 (thinking there would be a few titans fans there). Got in the stadium and just before kickoff i said there would be 15,000 in there.

The game could have got 20,000 at it with all the things going on, but we were all dreaming thinking that would happen with us 0/2.

Next week will be up around 40,000 though.

As I said, anything under 30k is horrendous next week. Forbidding a storm on top of the ground there should be 30k easily.

Sydney bashers...where are you??.
I'm here.

mattyg said:
As i thought, they have gone quiet. Sydney has drawn 35k this weekend with another 2 games to come.
Actually, it's 36K but maths seems not to be your strong suit despite your HSC claim

mattyg said:
Dogs v Titans should draw 20k
14675, ironically, up to the 15k you predicted for the Battle of the Birds

mattyg said:
and the Roosters v Manly game up to 15k.
A dodgy(? ) rubbery 12,000 apparently. You were warned that it wouldn't draw 15K.

mattyg said:
That will make it 70k in one weekend in Sydney if the fans turn up tomorrow. 56k more than Brisbane drew this weekend.
No that'll make 63K (in four games), 39K more than Brisbane drew (in one game). Give it up Matty.

15k..i said UP TO 15k. It was never going to be more than 15k. In fact 12k for that game was actually pretty good. As you said, we still drew 63k this weekend, relatively close to the 70k i was saying.

63k in 4 Sydney games is 15,750 per game. Up there with recent years averages (including the big Broncos averages). We drew plenty more than Brisbane did this weekend. Anyone can admit 24k for a one team city supposedly into the footy is pretty poor.

Anyway, why bash me, as Timmah said, i played my part in a big way this weekend. I attended Parra v Tigers on FN and Doggies v Titans today.

Can you just admit the Sydney crowds were good this weekend...who would have thought there would be 17,000 at Sharks v Souths. Nope you can't...a team in Perth or Adelaide would draw more wouldn't it?? Bash Melbourne, they brang 12k today despite having a match between 2 unbeaten teams. Sydney bettered that figure in 3 out of 4 matches.

I expect to see you on here at about 10pm good friday to "bash" the crowd between Souths v Dogs.

I've already conceded it was disappointing. I wouldn't say poor, I'd say about what I expected.

Because you're there, making the grandiose claims about likely crowds, setting yourself up as a target. It's almost my obligation to shoot you down.

Good for you. My only regret is that you have only one life to offer in support of Rugby League.

mattyg said:

Yes I can, in part, and I already have. The crowds at Parra and Shark Park were good. The other two? One was not good, the other was poor.

mattyg said:
...a team in Perth or Adelaide would draw more wouldn't it??
Probably not, but they would increase our bargaining power in the TV negotiations. But I digress. This is not a relocation/expansion argument, merely a heartland debate.

And I'd bloody well hope so too. After all, it is the "heartland" you're talking about.

I'd love nothing more than to see 40000 there on Friday night and I will be here to congratulate one and all if you can manage it. I just don't think it will happen. 25K will be encouraging, 30K will be a great result IMO.

Last point. Do you mind if I don't come in until about 11.30 on Friday? We'll get your game second up here. I've got to sit through the Drongos/Rorters first.

Good crowd for Melbourne considering they had to play at 6am or something like that. Fancy expecting the punters to come out that bloody early.

Bunnies v Dogs must attract 40k plus this Friday otherwise it will be a disappointment. This is Sydney's big chance to attract a decent club RL crowd for a change.

Souths undefeated, Sonny Bill returns and the Dogs are coming off a win - bring it on!!!

I just wonder if there might be a market for that time slot in Melbourne. Dunno whether they Ballet in Boots performs at that time or not, but it is the hottest part of the day in our coldest city...People can get out and enjoy the sunshine while they watch the footy. Just a thought.

Of course, this is the same TV-polesmoking-NRL that puts the Cowboys on Monday night so their regional fans can't attend, and denies Canberra fans sunny Sunday afternoons in favour of freezing winter nights, so I won't hang by my nuts waiting for them to see the merit in my argument

a shower or two is the early forecast for sydney. hopefully that changes through the week. Anyway, even if its only a morning shower, we should still be pushing 40k. Anything less than 30k is a massive dissapointment. Between 30-35k will be good but i really think this game will get more
