I think a lot of you underestimate how good Liam Georgetown is. He was the stand out player for the cougars this year. He held off both Howland and Youngquest for the fullback position, even though he was signed as a winger.

I also feel people have somewhat overestimated some of our players from the Jersey Flegg side. Given time a lot of them will do well, but theres a mighty big step between JF and the NRL.

My Side.

1. Wesser
2. Georgetown
3. Lewis
4. Gordon
5. Rooney
6. Trindall
7. Gower
8. Clinton
9. Priddis
10. Norrie
11. Waterhouse
12. Puletua
13. Rodney

14. Cross
15. O'Beirne
16. Pritchard
17. Aiton

18. Bell
19. O Halloran

Georgetown isn't a firstgrader and probably never will be imo. He may be a one gamer or something, but doesn't have the skills to be a regular first grader.

IMO there is less of a leap from Flegg to First Grade, than PL to First Grade

What do you base both those statements on?

What do you mean he doesnt have the skills? Hes good under the high ball, hes elusive, very very quick and is solid in defence. What more can you ask for in a fullback/winger.

If he was a local junior a lot more people would be pushing his bandwagon. IMO i think some Penrith fans are so glued onto our juniors that they're not prepared to accept sometimes there are players not from this area (but playing lower grades), that are a much better option. (E.g. People always pushing for Junior Moors to be included in the side, but never mentioning John Flint even though he has outplayed Junior consistently.)

Well we'll see how far Georgetown gets in comparison to our juniors. That'll be what I base those statements on.

If Georgetown proves a success, good on him and congratulations. But imo he'll never be a regular first grade player.

Because he doesnt come from the local area?

The guy has come from playing wing at struggling Qld Cup side, to becoming the starting Fullback in PL ahead of the likes of Howland and Youngquest. Who are both decent fullbacks in their own rights. He has done this within one year. If that doesnt show class and potential, what does?

I don't care that he's not a junior.

You're entitled to your opinion, as I'm I. I don't think he'll be a regular first grader and you think he can be.

The proof will be in the pudding as they say.

Personally in 2007 I just hope we do away with the overuse of those stupid inside balls that force our two giant second rowers to stop and prop back on the inside and lose all their momentum.

Another 1 for Mick to watch in Flegg this year

http://www.qrl.com.au/display.php?pg_id=1860

CENTRAL Capras wonderboy Travis Marshall will represent his State for the very first time when he runs on to Suncorp Stadium next Wednesday night as a member of the Queensland Under 17 team.

Having represented Rockhampton and the Central Division every year throughout his relatively short rugby league career, it is somewhat surprising that Travis hasn’t donned the maroon jersey prior to 2006.

Travis was outstanding for the Capras at the recent QRL Under 17 Carnival in Toowoomba and following the Carnival was rewarded with selection in one of the two teams chosen for the final selection trial.

Playing in that trial at Dolphin Oval last Sunday, he obviously impressed the State selectors, enough to earn himself a spot in the second row for Wednesday night’s big clash against the Blues.

Travis is a product of the Rockhampton Brothers Juniors, a club he has played for over the last seven years, Before tht he featured with Rockhampton Norths as a 9 and 10-year-old).

His outstanding potential was spotted back in 2004 when the Penrith Panthers contracted him at just 15 years of age. Hee will join the Panthers for the 2007 season, following completion of his Year 12 studies at Emmaus College.

I'm not going to leave Trindall of the list just yet. With the right training, the right guideance, plenty of competition and with age on his side he could be just what we are after for the next few years.

Agreed and i do love to watch trindall play however wether he makes 1st grade straight away i dont no.

I guess its just another answer only matty elliott knows.

he is 28, so he can't have that long left.

IMO he should be gone from the club. His conduct is setting a bad precedent for the kids at the club.

IMO Dean Caldwell will pass him and Wallace quite easily by the end of the year should he remain injury free.

Mate yes trindall made a mistake but we all do what he did shouldnt be excused but well the club has decided to keep him on board so he shouldnt be punished by not being allowed to play 1st grade.

If the club was going to do that then they should have just released him.

He's made too many mistakes.

No matter what anyone says, the club made the wrong decision on the issue.

At our club that is the first error in his ways, hell if it was joey johns most people would say give the guy a break.

Double standards if you ask me.

Simple thing is with us its his first mistake he has apologised and admitted it was wrong which is more then most people would have done he will no dobut be sent for councelling if you ask me he should play id say yes.

Though if he stuffs up once more id say pack his bags for him.
