that was never a penalty. That said, I'm amazed how people are calling Gerrard a cheat. He went down to a fair challenge but it was hardly a dive. Still, it's justice for the blatant hand ball by Atletico earlier in the half that the officials all seemed to miss.

What about Jamie Carragher's hand ball in the second half

I'm thinking of a first half handball now that I think of it!

Ah, I knew I was right!

Liverpool came out determined to find an equaliser after the break, but Keane was struggling to find space up front.

However, they should have had a penalty on 50 minutes when Atletico's Colombia defender Luis Amaranto Perea clearly handled in the area - but referee Hansson failed to spot the offence.

Here's another one from Stevie... seems he's not sure what to say...

Even Gerrard said: "I was not sure it was a penalty. I got to the ball first and I suppose if that was outside the area it would be a free-kick."

By the way Jimbo, good to see Terry's magic hands at work again. Just how many times has he handballed and gotten away with it now?

It was a good perofrmance by Roma. They deserved their easy victory.

It was another dire away performance by Chelsea in the CL. Creating little going forward and with several mistakes at the back. Pretty little triangles and sweeping cross field balls all look nice but are not always effective. We need our real hard men of the team back. Ballack, Drogba and Essien are not always pretty players, but they can drive teams with their power. Chelsea are missing this. Obviously we missed Carvalho and A Cole at the back as well.

Anyway, no excuses, Roma would of won anyway. It looked to me a case of what Tim Sheens would call "One team wanted to win and the other had to win". Chelsea looked complacent and lacked concentration. Still Roma were clinical and deserved to win by probably more then 2 goals.

There is no need to panic. We are still top of the group, although there will be serious alarm bells ringing if we lose in France in 3 weeks time. I Doubt it though, this seems to happen every group stage with Chelsea, We turn in a couple of turgid away efforts before winning the last couple and sailing through in top spot.

At the moment we are belting all the small teams but struggling badly against sides that offer us little space and play a counter attacking game. Scolari needs tot hink about his tactics and his use of substitutions.

Anyway im expecting us to win at Blackburn on Sunday and win in France in 3 weeks to stay top of both the PL and the CL Group.

Our performance this morning was a total reverse of what we've dished up over the past few weeks.

I have absolutely no idea where it came from, but I'm preying it remains. Football is a funny game, the way a side can go from total utter crap and then churn out a performance like this morning in the space of four days is incredible.

Anyway, this is the Roma I know, not the one thats reared its ugly head so far this season. Hopefully this win is the turning point in our season.

Disgusting penalty, wouldn't expect anything less by Liverpool.

Never seen a team win so many penalties or opponents red carded than that mob.

it was a dive mate

watch the replay, as he is landing he throws his hands up in the air and his head back, no need for it

I was really pissed at watching the Spurs/Liverpool game on the weekend. Every time a Red player hit the ground he got a penalty, they are a protected species.

Its almost as if they are coached by Craig Bellamy.

Winning games with tactics like that does not require skill.

Hmm. At the time I was sure it was inside but thinking back I'm not so sure. You may be right. The one I'm thinking of happened at about the 56 minute mark. I also failed to mention Liverpool's handball late in the half actually. Whichever way you slice it, we got lucky.

The one(handball) where Keane went off was way inside the box.
The penalty at the end was a dead set square up.(because it shouldnt of been).
It wasnt a dive either.Watch the Mariners and the Adelaide games from the weekend and you'll see a good dive in each of those games.
If someone believed that they've never played a game of football and had a dead set go.

Thats 2 home penalties in 2 games.
Gerrards getting nearly as may penalties as Lampard(Well nearly).

bullsh*t ... "look at other games" "you've never played football if you think it's a dive" pull the other one ...

he milked it for all it was worth because it was the 94th minute and he knew he would get the penalty ... dive, dive DIVE ... two players going for the ball and if it wasn't in the box he wouldn't have gone to ground as theatrically as he did

Have a look at the height Gerrard jumps and the pace he's running at.
Try landing on your feet when you cop even slight contact with someone.
By the way who do you think won the ball the Atletico man or Gerrard?
