Yeah I also remember hearing something about Fitzgibbon winning Roosters player of the year for the 4th time.

Fitzgibbon wins Jack Gibson Medal

Craig Fitzgibbon has made Sydney Roosters history claiming his fourth Jack Gibson Medal for the Club’s Player of the Year.



Fitzgibbon, the Jack Gibson Medalist in 2001, 2002 and 2006, is the only player in the history of the Club to claim four Jack Gibson Medals.
300 guests were on hand to see Craig edge out Sam Perrett and Mitchell Pearce to take this year’s award in an emotional night for the Club legend, who also won the Clubman of the Year Award.
John Gibson, son of Jack, was on hand to present the award and spoke of his respect for Fitzgibbon, who has been with the Roosters for 10 seasons.
The Club acknowledged departing players including Fitzgibbon, Shane Shackleton, Mark O’Meley and Sia Soliola, with emotional tribute videos.
Departing Head Coach Brad Fittler was also on hand to farewell long serving Strength and Conditioning Coach Ron Palmer, who has committed to 22 years to the Roosters.
Other award winners for the evening were Jacob Miller who won the Chris Sykes Junior Representative Player of the Year award and Isaac Maliota who won the National Youth Competition Player of the Year award.

Douglas awarded Monty Porter Medal

Luke Douglas capped of a great season taking home the Monty Porter medal voted to have been the Sharks best player in 2009. Having not missed a single game since his first grade debut Douglas averaged 61 minutes per match. Douglas has also been nominated for the Ken Stephens Medal and received recognition for this achievement on the night for his ongoing commitment to the Community.
Fellow front rower Kade Snowden was awarded the Players Player award. During the 2009 season Snowden played 23 matches working tirelessly in the forwards making a total of 732 tackles. His hard work was highlighted by his performance in round 16 against the Roosters making 55 tackles.
Sharks rookie Blake Ferguson was thrilled to receive the rookie of the year award off Adam Ritson. The former prop was one of youngest players to ever represent the Sharks after making his first grade debut at the age of 16.
Although disappointed in exiting the competition in the first week of the semi finals Sharks NSW cup coach Alex Melville was full of praise for his two award winners. Anthony Killingbeck received the coaches’ award and Daniel Rauicava was awarded the NSW Cup Player of the year award.
Sharks Toyota Cup coach Joey Grima awarded captain Luke Latham the coaches’ award and John Viiga was voted the player of the year. Toyota Cup manager Scott Williams was awarded the clubman of the year for his dedication throughout his many years of involvement in various roles at the club.
