We certainly have the players. Matt Elliott had a number of players who played in the world cup and he still couldn't make the top 8:

Rhys Wesser represented the Dreamtime Aboriginal team
Michael Jennings got player of the year for Tonga.
Maurice Blair represented the Dreatime Aboriginal team
Petero Civoniceva represented Australia
Paul Aiton got player of the year for PNG
Tony Puletua got player of the year for Samoa
Joseph Paulo represented Samoa
Sam McKendry represented the NZ Maori team
Keith Peters represented PNG

Throw in the likes of Michael Gordon, Luke Lewis, Frank Pritchard, Masada Iosefa, Jarrod Sammut etc. and it just looks worse for Matt Elliott.

Why didnt Masada play for his country?

Good question. He made the squad last year, but didn't actually get to play. This year he atleast had a few first grade games under his belt.

Although the selectors didn't pick Isacc Luke at first either.

The backline of death!

1. Tighe
2. Gordon
3. Coote
4. Jennings
5. Enese

Handy halves

6. Luke Lewis
7. Jarrod Sammutt

Forwards in turmoil!

8. Vacant
9. Vacant
10. Petero (c)
11. Vacant
12. Blair
13. Pritchard

Benched

14. Io
15. Woolnough
16. Aiton
17. Vacant

I predict a finish 9th to 13th. If they go better than that, I will be pleased but as Big Mick suggests, a bit light on the cattola this year. The clean up continues.

The Panthers have killed Elliot's coaching career no matter where they finish!

sorry guys i do not agree. The mob says we finish in the 8.The first 6 rounds are vital to us we need to hang in there as the young guns learn improve then shine

Mc Kendry
Grant
Penese
are good young forwards who will continue to improve

Graham
sammutt
iselin

in the halves again young players on the rise

Coote
junior Tia Kilife
Waddell maybe back end of year

And that is just the start of the young kids

Coote is far too good for fullback.

I think he may of captained the side afew times due to injuries.

I think he did too, I just cant remember the game.

I just hope his legs last the season.

Sugar used to be so hot, now his bad days outnumber his good ones.

Thats why we picked him up for overs and hes probably got 5 years too.

Nah I hope he goes Ok.

Hopefully better than Joey Williams did for you guys..like make three games.

Sorry Q but Coote is a fullback .He tried the 5/8 position last year when there was a heavy injury toll in the u20.The club found he was far better at fullback where he could play as a second receiver and inject himself as he pleased

The best young Panther Ive ever seen.

Could not agree more Dave. I saw a lot of the Panthers NYC this year due to my bro in law being in the team & I couldn't stop raving about Coote.

If he stays injury free I have no doubt he will be talked about in the same esteem as Alexander & Fittler when he's done with the game.

No doubt at all.
