2009: NSW - (Peter Wallace + bounce of the ball) = series win?

We certainly played the best footy of the series, but if we had played like this from Game 1, they would have just stepped it up and beaten us fair and square, rather then allowing us to beat ourselves and win with little effort.

The QLD side has a lot more to offer then we saw this series. Our side just didn't make them have to work for the series win. Even our team last night still had a few flaws which the full strength QLD side could have easily won. (ie. David Williams, injured Kurt Gidley, average front row etc.)

I think that is an over simplification to be honest. QLD utterly out played NSW in games I and II, regardless of the halves combinations the forwards didnt aim up, and our hooker stood around doing nothing all game. I think QLD expected more of the same last night and were run off the ball by a rampid NSW that could actually take advantage of fastish play the balls. The biggest difference between the QLD wins and the NSW win, play the ball speed. I have been saying it all series, if QLD get what they have been given time and again for the last 4 years, massive laying in the ruck then NSW cannot win.

Fact: Wallace was the form NSW halfback before SOO I, outplaying his rival in the City/Country clash by some margin.

Not entirely true I think. Yes he outplayed Jarrod Mullen, but Jarrod Mullen should not have even been there at halfback.

I think this series was lost when politics decided player selection.

NSW devestated their chances of winning when Laurie Daley forced the selectors to select Jarrod Mullen over Brett Kimmorley. Brett Kimmorley was playing better then any other NSW half at the time. Perhaps any other halfback in the comp.

Brett Kimmorley should have been selected for game 1 and captain.

Keep dreaming. Qld did what was expected of them (carve up NSW) and then went to sleep. Unfortunately in game three they went to sleep before there were any points on the bored.

but but but

if we'd have got some lucky bounces

lol blues, you win one game and all of a sudden you're the better team? no matter how much you want to say otherwise, wednesday was a DEAD RUBBER. QLD didn't need to win. you guys are drawing at straws now... lol

Tbh, i don't think so.. experience is a big thing in Origin

We lost games 1 and 2 out of fear and inexperience

come game 3, the series was lost and there wasn't much to fear [apart from the whitewash.....imo] the boys let loose

Sweet, so all you need to do is lose the first two games of every series so the precious little things don't need to be afraid.

why do blues supporters always have to make excuses when they lose.

qld were missing petro, hannant, myles and folau, yet no one really comes out and says that's why we lost. those 4 were a huge part of the first two games, and were sorely missed, but we still had 17 out there and weren't good enough on wednesday night.

just take the losses and enjoy the odd victory that you get nsw. your time will come again, one team is never on top for too long in origin. fair dinkum though, quit the excuses and what ifs. qld has the shield and fully deserves it.

QLD won this series on the back of lucky bounces and horribly inept NSW halves in the first 2 games.

NSW put in the most dominant performance in the series (by far) in the third game.

Did the selectors and coach pretty much lose NSW the series?

lol, the wisdom of 12675 posts comes to this dribble.
qld won the series in 2 games with the numbers 1-10 of the test team.
series over! the result was the same whoever you fools chose!

we racked up 18 pts early in both games, series over!

agree, queensland were gifted this series,if kimmorley and barrett had started game 1 they'd have won the series without a doubt, the maroons have a lot of work to do with their forward pack next year, they know it as well. Bar Hannant and Costigan they're in some trouble trying to find replacements for the bookends up front who will be past their best by then

lol, myles and scott are ready if the bookends give it away

It's quite simple really... If the Wolfman and Farah (Who was injured and put himself infront of the team) didn't play in Origin 2 NSW would've won the series 2-1.

where do you get these amazing insights from, lol

You seem to have forgotten that Jerrod Haynes scored the first try in origin 1, if the video ref (who was sacked) had to take 10 look at something, it was benefit of the doubt, just like the Qld try last night, if that was rewarded, Qld would not have scored at the other end, it is a different ball game

and if english wasn't your second language you may make more sense

has laurie daley apologised to the country selector who quit over no kimmorley?

IMO:

QLD has won four in a row, and for that you could call it a dynasty; however, the fact of the matter is that the figurative 'bounce of the ball' has been what has separated them in each series.

Game 1: QLD were by the far the better team and only fortuitous tries kept NSW close.

Game 2: QLD got up 18-0 after NSW played that badly in the first 20 minutes. Good comeback from NSW, but QLD against the odds hung on and won.

Game 3: Great ebb-and-flow game, if QLD were 'lucky' to win Game 2, then NSW were 'lucky' to win Game 3.

All in all, the better team won, but NSW will have its day soon.
