Well, i have been following this team for 48 years and was fortunate to see 3 of the 5 GF's 67-71. So i've now been waiting 40 years for the next win. With the club in the shape it's in now, with the playing staff and coaching staff we have, i'm sorry but we NEED to deliver and we NEED to deliver NOW! If we don't at the very least get a top 4 finish this year then there needs to be some very serious questions asked.
I've been hearing " we'll be a major threat in a few years" for decades. Time to stop the bullsh*t roll up the sleeves and produce a result.

You lucky b***ard!! (I'm not being sarcastic, what I wouldn't give to have been there. My uncle was there and raved about them and the crowds at the SCG till he died).

There really is no excuse for us to not be a force this year. It should come down to the boys' motivation and hunger to win. I think this shows up in a team's defence of their line.

It might all depend upon Johnny Lang's attitude to the year. I hope he lasts the year and gets the boys fired up.

Off topic: Bundy are you from there or do you just drink the stuff?

I remember Roy Asotasi stating in a paper "that we should do it for Russell" meaning being successfull on the field.
Maybe Roy doesn't realise that South Sydney were around long before Rusty took over & to me that says it all regarding the current team.
Were still waiting for the team to deliver so maybe this year we will see us produce the type of football that will earn us a Top 4 spot.

Yes i consider myself a VERY lucky bastard. I'm from Sydney but now living in Bundy. In the 60's and 70's i lived a stone throw from Satts at Kyeemagh, so was fortunate to get some inside stories, not that he spoke that much.......... such a gentleman off the field.
As someone firmly pointed out in this thread, this is the "professional era" so if that is true..............there is no room for attitude problems, we have the merchandise in place, if they ARE professional then we EXPECT results............End of story.

Boo Boo ,
it is obvious where youre vote for , when the club voted for the new ownership. Please get over it.
I have no issue who a player dedicates a season's success to , i am more interested in the result. As i see it Crowe is bringing a new era to Souths and as such certainly have no issue with a player dedicating any success to him. Get real , you have the stench of sour grapes.
I do agree with Bundy , i will be immensely disappointed if Souths do not make it to top 4 in 2011.
However if they do not , i will certainly not be blaming Crowe!
ps i also went to all the grandfinals 1967-1971 , i also use to sell candy/icescream with a tray at the SCG and sportsground , so got to witness most games during that period , match of week / finals etc.great times

Nothing to get over Galeforce & no stench of sour grapes.
If you can see reason to trust the current management with our clubs future then good for you because i dont.
Whilst Souths look good off the field i'd prefer to read about them in Rugby League Week rather than the Financial Review & as the NRL is very strict on the amount of revenue / sponsorship / financial independence each club has then we are travelling OK but i still have my concerns & i wont be forced into accepting whatever the say or do without questioning any decision that i believe is worthy of my doubts.
I want Souths to be successfull just as much as you do so i dont see why i should remain silent if i dont agree with something.

It'll be hard for your pack to dominate if you get any injuries to your starting pack. You may have a great starting pack, but the sheer cost of that starting pack plus inglis has left your depth severely depleted. Souths have built a team of individuals, they haven't looked at the big picture and looked at building a "team", until they get rid of the mentality that superstars will win you a premiership, even if the rest of your cattle are garbage... I think they will continue to struggle.

You also need halves who can direct your forwards, something which Sandow and Sutton have shown an inability to do. They typically don't think two or three plays ahead.

Souths are again a fringe 8 side at best this year IMO. They've focussed their cash on the wrong place yet again, and I don't think Lang has evolved with the game, his tactics are no longer useful in the modern game.

In saying that, I hope I'm wrong, I'd love to see Souths make a play at the finals. Even if it makes some of your fans even more unbearable. I just can't see it happening this year though, they'll probably have a strong start to the season, but any injuries will quickly put out the fire, especially when you have the likes of Asotasi, Crocker and Taylor on the payroll.
