Wasn't aware of this but apparently Irving was born in Australia and thus becomes only the 2nd Australia born player to be drafted number one

What pricks.

As if he is going to play for them.

Rose, Westbrook, Rondo, Wall, Paul, Curry, Williams all in front of him.

What total BS

he played for the US in an under 18 game so it is up to them to clear him, if he was so committed to Australia why didnt he put his name up before.

Probably for the same reason why Benji represented Australian Schoolboys.

Because he was in that area.

This is the FIBA rule.
H.2.3.5 A player who has played in a main official competition of FIBA after having reached his
seventeenth (17) birthday may not play for a national team of another country.
However, in exceptional circumstances the Secretary General may authorise such a player to
play for the national team of his country of origin if he is ineligible to play for such country
according to this regulation H.2.3.5 and if this is in the interest of the development of
basketball in this country.

So if he played in the US under 18's after the age of 17 then unless the US agree he cannot play for us.
