If we're talking about mythical "tier 1" sponsors, we can't overlook the Jets back of jersey sponsor, Petersham RSL. Biggest rissole between Leichhardt and Stanmore....

You are a moron, and everyone is getting dumber for having to explain reality to you.

Principal: Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Billy Madison: Okay, a simple "wrong" would've done just fine.

CT, We certainly could argue all day about who is Tier 1 or 2 or 3... without you having done actual research into the background of each company, how the hell would you even know?

Focusing on NRL, major sponsors only for now (this is rushed so apologies for errors):

Broncos
NRMA Insurance - NRMA Insurance is part of Insurance Australia Group (IAG), an Australian-owned company which now operates in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and Asia. www.iag.com.au.

Raiders
Huawei - Founded in 1987, Huawei has grown from a USD 5,680 small company to a global company with a sales volume of over USD 20 billion with business presence in over 140 countries thanks to the tireless efforts of its staff and the company's global-mindedness. http://www.huawei.com/en/about-huawei/corporate-info/index.htm

Bulldogs
Jaycar - leading Australian and New Zealand electronics retail company, with over 70 stores across Australia and New Zealand. http://jaycar.com.au/about.asp

Sharks
Shark Energy - A part of Osotspa, a global company: http://www.osotspa.com/

Titans
Jetstar - a division of Qantas Airways www.jetstar.com
iSelect - National private health insurance intermediary: http://www.iselect.com.au/about-iselect/company_information/

Sea Eagles
Kaspersky Lab - global antivirus software and internet security manufacturer. http://www.kaspersky.com/au/about

Storm
Crown Entertainment Group - one of Australia's largest entertainment groups: http://www.crownmelbourne.com.au/corporate

Knights
Hunter Ports - Tinkler. New coal terminal. Big stuff http://www.hunterports.com/

Cowboys
Toyota NQ Dealers - dealerships may not be big bikkies, but Toyota itself is one of the biggest global brands going around.

Eels
Pirtek - worldwide fluid transfer solutions company http://www.pirtek.com/

Panthers
Oak - division of Parmalat, Australia's biggest manufacturer of dairy products http://parmalat.com.au/

Dragons
St George Bank - part of the Westpac Group, one of the "big four" banks in Australia.

Rabbitohs
The Star - part of Echo Entertainment, with holdings in several casinos and convention centres across Australia. www.echoentertainment.com.au
DeLonghi - global home appliance brand www.delonghi.com

Roosters
Steggles - National poultry producer.
Not to mention a raft of secondary sponsors with global reach...

Warriors
Vodafone NZ - a division of the Vodafone Group, the seventh most valuable brand in the world.

Tigers
Meriton - building premium apartments across the East Coast for the best part of 50 years. Not global by any means.

I have no doubt there's a couple of errors in the above but I don't think League is really in the backyard mum and dad corner store department - plenty of heavies there.

Are you geniused? Of course Shark Energy isn't on the ASX... It's not an Australian company... You won't find Emirates there either..

As I said earlier... Would you prefer Sharks Energy on a deal worth $5 million, or QBE insurance worth $2 million?

You are a moron, and everyone is getting dumber for having to explain reality to you.

The sharks ain't getting 2.5 times what the swans get in jersey sponsorships

You are talking through your arse

We could argue all day about who is a tier 1

Anyone would have to admit that steggles and shark red bull are not ASX 200 blue chip companies that portray a sense of prestige to a jersey

End of the day, rugby league sponsorship sales people at clubs lack confidence to go after the big fish

Hopefully this will change now. They won't be so desperate of cash that will take first offer on table

What would you define as a tier 1 sponsor then? In your mind, what is a better sponsorship deal. A large multi-national (say Kraft or Apple - both in Australia and 2 of the biggest companies in the world) sponsoring a team for $3 million a year. Or a smaller company (say Jaycar with stores purely down Eastern Australia and New Zealand) sponsoring a team for $5 million a year. I would be classing Jaycar as the tier 1 and Kraft/Apple as tier 2

Yep I have no idea;

We have some clubs with Tier One Sponsors;

St George Bank
NRMA Insurance
Crown Casino
The Star
Vodafone
Toyota (DEALER GROUP)

We have some clubs with tier Two Sponsors

Jaycar
Pirtek
Meriton
Kaspersky

And We have some clubs with tier three sponsors

Shark Red Bull
Oak
Iselect
Steggles
Hauwei

Sorry but the AFL have more tier 1

QBE
CGU
EMIRATES
VIRGIN
BOQ
FORD
HSBC
TOYOTA
SGIO
WOODSIDE

Tier 2

Webjet
VIP
JEEP
SKODA

The funny thing is that Huawei is probably the biggest company out of all of them.

You have the comprehension skills of a donkey.

I never said the Sharks were getting 2.5 times what the Swans were.

Hypothetical, you run the Perth Reds coming into the competition in 2018. For a major sponsor you have Emirates offering $2 million over 4 years, or Jack's Liquor Shop offering $4 million over three years...

Who would you go for?

Sharks will be wearing Yellow and Black socks this week in support of the Carty Boys Foundation.

http://www.sharks.com.au/news-display/Sharks-and-Luxbet-show-support-for-Shire-Boys/62736

The Sharks will be sporting bright yellow and black socks in recognition of The Carty Boys Foundation when they take to the field on Sunday against the Cowboys.
The Carty Boys Foundation supports two Shire brothers and dedicated Sharks fans Dane and Matt Cartwright who have a debilitating and terminal illness known as ‘Juvenile Batten Disease’ (NCL).
Diagnosed at age seven the boys have since faced many challenges in their quest to live a full and happy life. Over time they will suffer from both physical and mental impairment, while at present the boys are experiencing many of the debilitating symptoms of this disease, including worsening seizures, erratic behaviour and progressive loss of sight and motor skills.
Now 16 and 13, the boys need ongoing care and medical assistance, with a collection and some fundraising initiatives to take place at the Sharks v Cowboys game, including a generous gesture by Sharks sponsor Luxbet to donate an initial $1,000, plus $500 per try scored by either team and $1,000 for each 40/20 kicked, again by either the Sharks or Cowboys.
Sharks Strength and Conditioning Coach Trent Elkin, instrumental in getting the special game day fundraising activity up and running, was very appreciative of Luxbet’s support.
“Let’s hope we win but 34-32 would be nice, with a couple of 40-20’s thrown in,” Elkin joked. “But seriously it is a generous offer for an extremely worthwhile cause and we thank Luxbet very much for their support.”
With both boys to eventually need full time carers and wheelchairs and the family needing modifications to their future home and car there will be even more ongoing medical bills, with The Carty Boys Foundation endeavouring to make their limited time as full and as comfortable as possible.
On game day spectators can show their support by making a donation, of any amount, to The Carty Boys Foundation volunteers – who will be difficult to miss in their bright yellow t-shirts.
The Sharks will also be auctioning off the players worn socks (as a pair) which will be signed individually by the 17 players who take the field in against the Cowboys.
Paul Gallen and Todd Carney will also both be signing their match worn boots and donate them for auction as the Sharks look to beef up the total donation figure to The Carty Boys Foundation. The link to the online auctions can be found on the Sharks home page or by clicking HERE.
Kylie Gorick, from The Carty Boys Foundation, commented; “We are overwhelmed by the support the Sharks have given the boys and with the money raised on the day we will be purchasing a wheelchair for Dane, we might even have to paint it black, white and blue!”
For more information or to make a donation you can visit The Carty Boys website on www.thecartyboys.org.

The funny thing is that Huawei is probably the biggest company out of all of them.

Toyota and Vodafone probably have it beat (globally anyhow). "Biggest" companies can probably be defined in a billion different ways though.

In Australia things would be different.

Hi all I am new to this but either next year or 2014 Manly will be able to change their away strip. I am assuming they might want to bring it in line with their current home "V" strip.
Here is what that might look like. Although it would be a shame to see the traditional Manly hoops go, I think the reverse strip would look good. Enjoy!
I am not allowed to post imaged as of yet as my post count is less than 20 but if you click on the link you will see the jersey. Could someone with 20+ posts please post for me??

Had a look at the image on my phone (cant view imageshack on work pc) and it looks good. Would be great if Manly use this as their alternate jersey
