Not sure how Merrin, Gordon and Campese can be considered "emerging" when they have all played SOO in the past

Let's shake things up a bit here...

1. B Stewart/Dugan
2. Uate
3. Jennings
4. Lawrence
5. Gordon
6. Hayne
7. Maloney
8. Gallen
9. Gidley
10. Mannah
11. Bird
12. T Williams
13. G Stewart

14. Lewis
15. T Sims
16. Galloway
17. Snowden/Douglas

Hayne's positional play at fullback is awful and he doesn't get involved enough on the wing or at centre. But he's got a great long kicking game, decent defense and a solid passing game. Why not put him at five-eighth?

Maloney is solid defensively and can lead a team around the park.

Gidley goes great at hooker (unlike brain-fart Ennis or that pillow Farah) and is more than capable of playing 80 mins there.

Sims is a monster and will cause all sorts of problems for QLD on the fringes. Lewis can play anywhere bar front row and between him and Gidley there is plenty of utility value in the team without wasting a spot.

Let's face it, Soward only really offers a big boot and Pearce hasn't really shown anything despite being given all these chances.

That spine all has plenty of pace and plenty of ballplaying in them, so there's no shortage of creativity in attack.

why didnt stuart pick tolman in emerging squad?

I hope it's because Stuart doesn't rate him. I know the main argument will be is that he's too small but we have been going with big boppers that have struggled. At least with Tolman you will know he will play long minutes for you, continue to cart the ball up regardless and do his job in defence. Can't say that for the other props not named Gallen

I agree, hard to know what the purpose of this side actually is going with a number of selections...

I think Stuart wants to encourage Merrin, especially after picking him too early then dropping him. The other two would probably be considered genuine contenders for Origin spots.

On a side note, Lawrence's omission from this squad is probably a clear indication that he will make his Origin debut.

Hmm, as much as there is some good Raiders players he select half that team. I'll be Manly bias here, no Buhrer or Mauro(and he is a good young prop. Guess Sticky feels we have Gallen, do need any specialist Props). Hell even George Rose should at least be in the Camp. He might not have the fitness for Origin, but he is still a good Prop.

This is meant to be for future propects.

Suprised the rest wasn't filled with roosters and sharks, because these teams have been outstanding over the past decade.

And What about youg Ryan Stigg or Feleti Mateo they only appeared in the finals on in the GF.

I stand by my opinion of the last 2 seasons. Todd Carney is our best chance of winning a series.

Now that he is playing for the sharks Rothfield will probably stop picking on him and let his footy do the talking.

I would be happy to have him start in origin 1.

1. Stewart / Dugan Pending on form
2. Gordon
3. Lawrence
4. Hayne
5. Uate
6. Campese. Maloney or Soward if these Campese isnt firing or fit.
7. Carney. Pearce if Carney isn't firing or fit.
8. Mannah / TLL
9. Farah
10. Gallen (C)
11. Lewis
12. Scott
13. Stewart

14. Bird
15. TLL / Mannah
16. Galloway
17. Watmough

I think its a well balanced team. Only real question mark over 5/8 position, IMO the rest are set in stone.

That's my team - right there (apologies, for slightly amending the halves you posted, but it was easier than re-writing everything as you'd done such a stellar job of getting the team right)

That's the team we should have had for the last 3 or 4 seasons, but thanks to injuries, stupid selectors and Carney's brain snaps, it hasnt happened yet.

Expect 7 of these players to be injured by the time Origin rolls around.

For what it's worth I'd go;

1. Dugan
2. Gordon
3. Lawrence

5. Uate
6. Maloney
7. Carney
8. Mannah
9. Farrah
10. Douglas
11. Gallen
12. Stewart
13. Lewis

Bench: T Williams, Hinchliffe, then 2 of Tolman, Galloway, Snowden or TLL

Not a bad team Gypsy, but I think Hayne needs to be in the team somewhere, he is just too good to leave out, never let NSW down.
Also I think we are too short on good props to put Gallen in the backrow. Just my opinion.

We just need a Matt Scott-esque player cause QLDs props besides him aren't threatening at all.
Civoniceva
Scott
Hannant
Shillington
Lillyman
Taylor

Are very beatable.

Gallen
Mannah
Tolman
Learoyd-Lahrs
Galloway

Can top them
i hear this every year, for the last 6 anyway. like a broken record. ricky picked 8 props in his emerging side, lol

I think this year Soward has a big chance to claim the 6 spot as his.
But, that means he must return himself and the team to form.

This is the year we get them. I love our backs compared to QLD. Here would be my backs:

1. Stewart
2. Uate
3. Jennings
4. Lawrence
5. Hayne

That backline has everything. Speed, size, defense and creativity. Michael Gordon extremely unlucky. QLD only have the advantage with Slater and Inglis.

Halves are OK. I'm not a huge fan of them, but we have no one better.

6. Soward
7. Pearce

Pearce would be on a short leash. We cannot afford to have new halves all over again, it is basically gifting QLD a free win.

The forwards we have are better than QLD's. I would have a pack of:

8. Gallen
9. Farah
10. Mannah
11. Stewart
12. Bird
13. Lewis

That pack is tough in attack and defense. Stewart, Bird and Lewis excel at everything they do and Stuart can use their passing abilities to shred the QLD defense. Can easily outmatch the QLD pack in terms of metres gained.

14. Williams
15. Scott
16. TLL
17. Galloway

I don't like wasting a bench spot on a back. Tony Williams is a impact player that would go well in Origin. Scott provides solid defense from the bench, while TLL and Galloway can get the forwards moving if nothing is going on.

It's abit much to say we can dominate the QLD forward pack when their props have outclassed our props as a group for 6 years now.

The only good prop you have is Scott. Civo is on broken legs, Hannant and Shillo inconsistent, Lillyman is one-dimensional, Taylor is a joke when he's not on the wing. On the right day our props can match and bash yours. It's just your coach knows when to sub players and who to actually choose, and you have a good hooker in Smith who makes all the difference while NSW have a loser who hides when a fight breaks out.

Civo on "broken legs" has still been head and shoulders above any prop NSW has fielded over the past 6 series and Hannant is not far behind him.

Our pack has its work cut out for them
