Hey guys,
Just want your opinions on what our best side for next year would be.
Mine looks like this:

Gordon
Simmons
Jennings
Tighe
Earl
Coote
Walsh
McKendry
Kingston
Grant
Newton
Plum
Lewis (C)
Seluini
Weston
Ciraldo
Smith

Needs some young, fast, talented outside backs in place of simmons and Tighe.

Coote if he moves from fullback has to bulk up and tackle harder at 5/8.

Front row is ok and with the exception of Lewis the rest are a bunch of plonkers.

Somebody super glue Westons hands before every game.

Looking at this team we are probably looking at 8th place at best.

A couple of key injuries and its bottom 3 for sure.

I wish Ivan all the best with this team.

The deficiencies in our playing roster have not been addressed and therefore we will have to put up with more of the same in 2012. A few wins here and there against sides not in the top eight but otherwise it is hard to see us being seriously competitive. Not enough class or quality in key positions.

Hard to disagree with the above 2 posts. I will be happy to see us in the finals next year even if it's in 8th place

Satan, you are right on the money once again. The only way you win comps is with gun back rowers and halves. Plumb and Smith simply aren't going to put the dents in the defensive lines, and Walsh and Coote/Burns won't create the necessary opportunities to accumulate points to win a game.

We needed Blair and Tonga to be competative next year, and sadly we were never in the mix.

I hope Greg Waddell has a great off season and Ryan Waalker aquires some skills or we will be shark bait.

I think we'll be competitive next year but not competiting for the title. Depending on what happens the following off season we might be able to go all the way.

Hearing that Inu was available in recent times I'm amazed Penrith didn't go after him or make a play for him. He's streets ahead of both Simmons and Purtell. I thought Gus was a fan too.

Either way with Maloney wanting to come back to Australia when his contract is up with the Warriors we need to go after him hard. Burns isn't the answer at six.

Meh. As with every other season we'll need 2/3 juniors in the right positions to step up and injuries to be kind.

I've already written next season off in my mind. Don't really care as long as we give the young guys an extended run in place of the plodders. If they don't do anything for the first 10 rounds we need to start targeting players like Maloney, Manu etc or we'll be right back here in 12 months.

Also where will Sjeika and Austin slot into the side? Surely one of them should be in the halves ahead of Burns. Or are they still eligible for 20s?

My hopeful full strength side:

1. Michael Gordon - fullback, wing, centre
2. Brad Tighe - wing, centre
3. Michael Jennings - centre
4. Junior Vai Vai - centre
5. Sandor Earl - wing
6. Lachlan Coote - halves, fullback
7. Harry Seijka - halves
8. Tim Grant - front row
9. Kevin Kingston - hooker
10. Sam McKendry - front row
11. Nathan Smith - second row, lock
12. Clint Newton - second row
13. Luke Lewis (c) - second row, lock

14. Nafe Seluini - hooker
15. Nigel Plum - front row, second row
16. Dayne Weston - front row
17. Blake Austin - second row, lock, halves

With the depth being:

Backs:
Etu Uaisele - wing, centre
Geoff Daniela - wing, centre
Ryan Walker - fullback, wing, centre
David Simmons - fullback, wing, centre

Halves/hookers:
Luke Walsh - halves
Travis Burns - halves, hooker, lock
Masada Iosefa - hooker, lock, second row (not sure he is re-signed though)

Forwards:
Chris Armit - front row
Cameron Ciraldo - second row, lock
Sarafu Fatiaki - second row, lock
Jesse Sene-Lefao - second row
Vaipuna Tia Kilifi - second row, lock

I've probably missed a lot of players who could be considered for depth, but realistically it's hard to imagine anyone not listed above getting a run. Unless ofcourse it's a signing we've yet to announce.

Here are my tips:

With exit of Elliott and Cleary on board, MASADA will feature very strongly on 2012, whether as starting hooker or from the bench.

V Tia kilifi to be a regular starter in the 2nd row by mid season.

Jesse Sene-Lefao to cement a spot in the back row.

Ryan Walker and Brad Tighe to occupy the wings.

Sene-Lafeo & Walker prob won't be re-signed. Masada wants to stay but no offer Canberra likely destination.

I won't post a best 17 yet too many questions un answered. Are we finished in recruitment? Gus said we were since then we got Uaisele & Daniela so hopefully more to come. Will Gordon be 100%? ACL's usually take 12-18m to get fully fit. Where will Coote, Gordon, Austin play? Are just a few questions to be answered

Iosefa should be starting hooker, offers a lot more than kingston

Iosefas service out of Dummy half is terrible. On top of that he gives away dumb penalties and is lazy. He should be converted to a backrower, played one game for us there this season and was close to man of the match. IMO if he shouldnt of been resigned as a hooker.

I'm upset we've let Masada Iosefa and Ryan Walker go considering who we've signed. Neither has set the world on fire in first grade yet, but Masada was brought into first grade under Matt Elliott and he had an uncanny ability to kill any talent a player had. While Ryan Walker had only played a couple of first grade games and showed some potential.

Would have rathered keep those blokes then sign a bunch of rejects in their late 20's who will never be anything more then fringe first grade players. IMO Walker and Iosefa could be more then that.

That's why I was concerned about our recruitment. Walker can do the same job as Uaisele. Sene-LAfao is the style of forward we are lacking. Masada showed promise as a backrower plenty of leg speed a bit more training he could be a decent backrower
