Zigwaa's right. It's actually a replica of the '89 one:

Pretty accurate.

If "the star' had've been done without the black box it would have looked like a near perfect throwback. shame about the billboard but glad to see the side panels gone.

The NRL slowing becoming a bigger sell out.

Manly sponsor Kaspersky has now taken over the club's naming rights. Their official name will now be the Kaspersky Sea Eagles.

What a f**king joke.

Sadly we are referred to as the NRMA Insurance Broncos on the club website.

The only two others are the Vodafone Warriors and now the Kaspersky Sea Eagles.

I'll be the arsehole and say that its not THAT accurate. I can understand that ISC is pushing their template (which isn't particularly bad compared to other certain companies) and collar but why does that f**king black rabbit need to be on a heritage jersey? If they used the 80's/90's logo it would be so much better. I also think that the stripes could be shifted down so that the top stripe coincides with the chest logos and the bottom strip occurs that the hem.

Does it really matter?

It'll never catch on with fans and the media. Manly will always be referred to as Manly by fans and the media. How many times do you hear fans/media call the Broncos the NRMA Insurance Broncos?

The Toyota Cowboys?
The Iselect Titans?

Yes because if we don't take ourselves seriously who will?

Will the New Orleans Saints sell name space calling themselves Mercedes Saints?

We need to take our brands seriously and have some respect for tradition instead of whoring every last cent we can.

Also the tigers 2 heritiage jerseys will be based on these designs:

Hmm.. I'll reserve judgement.

The last time heritage jerseys were based on these, they added a lot of unnecessary side-panel stripes & watermarks - which distracted from the heritage aspect IMO.

Oh, and the V on both designs was not quite the same as the original designs...

Sorry should of been clearer. Not based but replicated.

Cool.. I think the main problem I had with those designs is that they tried to cram 3 separate elements into one jersey and it just cluttered the design.

The V by itself, or the stripes by themselves would be ok - but both together with a watermark (which would be better serving as a badge) was just too busy.

For instance, for the Magpies side of the joint venture, these fit the bill..

Two heritage designs I'd LOVE to see the tigers use are these...

Wests 1908 jersey (something different for a Magpie heritage):

Balmain 1930s jersey (this stripe pattern would be unique!):

Completely agree.

Most of the heritage jerseys are linked to the wrong era of popularity(which is the 70s&80s strips when TV coverage was discovering how good a TV product RL is)

Many of us identify with the V chested tops of that era abd they are still well entreched in our memories. It is shear folly to ignore this very popular era of RL development.

Completely agree that the current clubs have missed the plot with respect to replicating the right heritage jesreys!

This has been happening for years!!!

We were called the Canberra Milk Raiders when they sponsored us as we have for most of our sponsors. I have heard the same for other clubs for ages to.

Also for those who keep comparing us to say the NFL in regards to sponsors, naming etc, your a little off.

The populations, are vastly different.

Competition from other sports? Minimal in the US. We do a lot different here with development and funding compared to them. Gridiron is their national game played in almost all schools in pretty much the whole country.

Rugby League is not our only national sport.

Therefore we have to compete with other sports and require other forms of funding from a much smaller population.

I can cop the sponsor name in front of the team name. Its too far gone it a club changes its official name (such as Red Bull teams).
