I wouldn't care less to lose Michael Jennings if it meant getting $550k off our books over the next two years to contribute to Thurston's contract.

My biggest concern would be losing his brothers.

What if we don't get him? I would rather get the deal done. Then lose Jennings for 2014. Given our spine is weak we need all the strike players we can get. We fix those gaps then it's not as bad to get the money

Not sure how many times jenko has to come out and say he is staying. As for thurston dont see how with what it would cost to get him.We have little space in a cap for the type of cash for thurston at least for the next 3 years anyway

Other LU posters have got pretty low expectations for us next year, but I really am optimistic. More than I've been in a few years. We really can only improve, we've made some pretty handy signings, we've got a couple of promising young kids, got a high profile halves coach.

Sure we lost Lewis and Gordon, but my initial reaction to that was based more on sentimentality than anything else, neither has been firing much for us (esp. Gordon with his injury luck). Most around here count these as huge losses but in a practical sense I think the effect will be negligible.

Not sure how much credit can be placed at his feet, but acquiring Gus has really pushed us in a positive direction, and Cleary is continuing that. I really think we will surprise some people next year - those picking us for the spoon have no idea.

I am quietly confident about our chances next year. I am also surprised that we are favored for the spoon by many on the NRL forum here. I think we have a well balanced squad for next year, with a bit of luck on the injury front & it should be a decent season.

I dont think we will get the spoon, but realistically I think 10th is where they will probably finish if some of our spine does not perform better. If Walsh has a good season, Coote improves in the halves and a few of the young blokes step up then maybe we will sneak into the bottom of the 8.

I can't see us finishing top or bottom 4. Somewhere in the middle we will fall. Injuries & how consistant the halves are is the key.

I'm not suggesting we will be premiers or runners up, but we could end up winning more than or close to more than we lose. I'll be happy with any sort of improvement and with other team's fans having such low expectations they might be in for a surprise if the side they picked for the spoon spanks them on a few occasions.

We will surprise plenty of teams don't get me wrong. We have no draw yet. So we could have Melb & the dogs twice. Might get teams with no origin players around SOO.

We haven't seen how much defensive work Coote has done over the off-season. So there's still a few answers before I will call not making the finals a failure. We do have the best squad we have for a while. Sadly that doesn't guarantee much.

2 goals that need to be set 1. beating parra every time 2. finishing higher than them on the ladder.Every thing else is just cream on the pie
