Getting rid of anasta = premiership

My thoughts are that he will get first crack and get injured come round 3-5. Austin will get his spot and if he performs he will keep it. Even if Austin doesn't set the world on fire, Moses may also get a crack come the back end of the season.

Its a bit worrying that the halves are not set in stone. I feel that this has been a big problem for us so I just hope that the 6/7 get locked down quickly.

I feel Siro is the best option as a running 5/8 outside of Brooks. Appreciate he'll end up a gun back rower but 5/8 is more important for the team and other options Austin, Anasta are too far of a drop off.

Sue, Blair, Fulton, BMM, Halatau, Patterson, Lovett. We have enough cattle in the back row until Moses is ready to take over 5/8 and Siro can move back there.

Couldn't agree more, but I think Potter will choose experience and start with Anasta.

Interesting comments made by Kidwell on the progress of the forwards this pre-season (WT homesite). He said Blair was standing out so far so perhaps Kidwell may be getting him back into the sort of form he showed at the Storm....here's hoping.

Was it Kidwell that smashed Mason in a test? If so I hope he gets that sort of mongrel into our forward pack this year....

I completely agree. I reckon Moses will be our starting #6 next year, so we need a competent and reliable #6 for this year and i reckon Sironen fits the bill nicely. It would allow him to build a good combo with Brooks, improve his defence technique & harden his body in preparation for a move to the back row next year.

I completely agree with this as well. I just think Potter is going to play Sirro in the pack.

I would prefer Austin.

You need a second kicking foil outside of Brooks. Otherwise I think Robbie will overplay his hand which cruels us

Yep I'm keen for Austin to get first crack. Get Brooks/Austin to play all trials together and then give them a decent run. If Austin doesn't cut it then Siro can move there.

We know what Siro can do there. I think Austin plays a similiar game but can actually kick the ball. Siro is primed for the backrow and his education starts immediately.

I'm sorry but in my experience watching the game, once you move a player from the backs to the forwards, its a one way street.

If Sironen doesn't start at five-eighth but as a back rower, then he should't be going back there.

Does nobody remember the time when Fulton played at five-eighth.

Or how Anasta has played as five-eighth since being moved to the back row?

What about the young half (name eludes me) who though still eligible for the NYC played most of the season in the NSW Cup? Everyone seems to think Austin is a chance but he must be 3 years older than this kid who has excellent pace , a good pass and is a 5/8. I know his youth and inexperience may be an issue but Austin also has the same issues.

Sironen adds a new dimension to the second row and it would weaken the team to move him back to 5/8.

Yes, thanks. He would have played a few games with Brooks throughout the year. He looks to be an exciting player for the WTs.

Moving sirro back to the halves is a stupid move. Yes he played fairly well at 5/8 but was a flop at halfback. However from what I saw with him in the back row he really showed his potential. Keep him there and he will show how damaging he can be. He was actually scoring tries in the back row and was a handful for opposition defence. Just needs to work on his own defence and he will be playing origin in a few years

Kidwell has a reputation as a hard task marker. I like that he has publicly said Blair needs to improve. A others have mentioned Blair looks to have put on a lot of weight inthe training videos I've seen. He was pretty good to end the year at prop, I'm hopeful that wherever we play him he will start to show his worth.
