NRL losing a player like Sam Burgess to a 2nd rate rugby team like Bath shows how sad this situation has become for Rugby League.

Players like him should be kept in the game but the arrogance of rugby league and lack of vision for cap exemptions for a few players per club is going to cost them star players constantly leaving.

Jason Clark reminds me of the kid at school you always picked out of pity, because he's enthusiastic but f**king useless.

My grandfather grew up in Chippendale and that side of the family were life long supporters of South Sydney - I only caught the Tigers fever because the old man grew up in Balmain. I've also lived in the heart of Souths' territory for the couple of years.

Even so, I just can't feel happy about this victory, even if it's been 43 years coming. I really tried, I did.

It took longer for the gates to open up than expected but it happened in the end. Dogs forward pack matches the bunnies but comparing the 1 through 7 of each team it was always going to end this way.

The emotion on Burgess was nice to see. Always good to see when something means that much to a man.

That shot of Burgess will stay long in the memories of league fans for an age.

Unfortunately, they'll be countless replays of it on the TV to eventually put people off.

I hope that it is given the chance to just be a memory...because a glimpse of a memory is more precious than a constant reminder.
