He'll be in the English RU team before he's even played a single game at club level. He isn't leaving to play for Bath, nobody cares about club rugby in the UK, their crowds are shit, TV viewing figures are dwarfed by Super League despite them getting much more promotion, they also have a salary cap BTW that is no bigger than the NRL. Burgess is leaving to play in the RU World Cup next year, same goes for SBW and this will continue to happen as long as Australia continues to sit back in its own little Origin-dickriding world and neglect the international game.
There's no way he will make it in the forwards in union.
I personally think he will struggle to make the England international team. Just my opinion. I think he's a fantastic player, but I don't think he has the skills to transfer across as easily as Williams did.
I tend to agree with you that he left to play international union. I also suspect he is a bloke that very much enjoys the limelight. If he doesn't succeed in union quickly, I wouldn't surprised to see him back in Souths colours sooner rather than later. And that would make me very happy as he's player I enjoy watching and a player who raises the profile of rugby league in NSW (and I'm sure in England as well).
I'd also love to see greater emphasis placed on the international game.
In fact, the only thing we probably disagree on is whether he'll be a success in union or not.
