Dugan would have been picked at centre for his defence. Hopoate is a good enough defensive centre because of his smarts, lateral movement and technique, but like Hindy11 says, his upper body strength isn't yet good enough, and he has had some very poor defensive games this year.

Hopoate is a very good attacking centre, with good ball skills. But that is of secondary importance to a centre. And I still think Hopoate's a better winger than a centre. It's just that we have so many wingers at Parramatta, and because we shift the ball we can make good use of centres with passing games. At plenty of clubs (and in Origin) a centre's passing ability is of little importance.

Try outs for the team will be held this Saturday and Sunday at Richie Benaud Oval, Parramatta.
Once team is picked there will be a kick-off.

We play the sharks in 3 weeks.

I wouldn't have thought so but I trust Daley's judgement. To be honest I'm surprised Dugan has moved to centre for the Dragons and even more surprised that he has been selected there for the Blues.

But Daley knows better than me, and he has more to lose if it goes wrong.

Not sure how one good game at centre against the Sharks gets you selected for Origin. He is f**king ordinary and has been for most of the season. Even Benchy looked good against the Sharks. Hopoate should have been selected in the centres with either Mansour or Taufua outside him.

He said that he might play Bogan on the wing. Hoppa at centre oe he might even start Bo Scott at centre.

makes more sense actually. I cant for the life of me see how Dugan could get selected to play centre ahead of a specialist centre
